We have paid for transfers and will have down disney bag drop so was thinking we could collect the car a couple of days in on our first disney visit at the car centre, drop bags on our final day and return car to the airport allowing us to drive somewhere if we want on final day. This works out 11 days and is £509 so save a bit!

Hi, Sorry for the delayed response.
Mine is the Toyota Sienna booked through Virgin Holidays... We also have a 2nd (small) car - in case some people want to go off and do their own thing / facilitate the airport runs.

Update...
We are currently split on the decision to hire... I am in the to hire and need to convince some of the others help! Have used the flexibility, time saving, convenience arguments but others convinced it will be costly with added exoense of paying tonpark and easy to use public transport with 3 children in the heat! How do I convince them? !

Area the size of Greater Manchester, sitting on a bus for an hour to get anywhere.
Waiting for an hour at night for the next bus, when the bus is full.
If you're staying on Disney property parking is free.
Disney property itself is 40 square miles
Can't just nip out somewhere have to plan around a bus timetable.
Can't easily go to KSC, the beach, Busch Gardens
Shopping (dangerous to carry expensive shopping on bus)
Save money by eating off property

Get a smaller car just for you and let them ride the bus.

Get two small cars - all the other arguments for still stand and the benefit then is that you will always have at least one other sober person to talk to!

Despite the number of American tv shows that show people in bars having a skinful and then driving - it really is a no-no and if you are driving that day it is sensible to have an absolute no alcohol policy (also remember the morning after problem if you are rotating drivers)

Much better if you are rotating to do it midday to midday rather than take a day each as the person who was sober to drive yesterday will be still be sober in the morning - where as the person driving tonight might still be a little hungover

It really isn't worth the pain of spending some of your holiday in jail

(I'm not suggesting you would have done this - but its a consideration in the drive/not-drive decision)
