Question about tolls that are Sunpass only
We're hiring a car for 2 days for a couple of days out that we have planned. I've just been 'driving' the route on Google Earth and got to a toll that we have to go through (Florida Turnpike exit 240) and it says Sunpass Only. So, what happens at these tolls? I've read about the Sunpass system charging a daily rate plus tolls, so don't really want to have to pay that if possible as we're literally driving there and back. Is the only option to look for an alternative route to avoid that toll or is it better to just accept the charge and get on with it?

Going to Wild Florida from the Disney Car Care Centre. Have never driven in the US before so just looking at Google maps/earth to try and get an idea of the route and what tolls we might encounter.

Vickie. If you are happy with the route I would use it. Just drive straight through as you are in an Alamo car so its all set up for tolls to be reclaimed from your Credit Card.
It will be $3.95 plus the toll if you only hit it in one 24 hour period. If you do it during the next 24 hour period it will be twice that amount ref the admin fee. Try and lodge a non foriegn transaction fee card with Alamo so you dont get more lobbed on top by the CC Company sunpass/rentalcar

I would use that route but it's their first time driving out there.
I detest paying tolls so try and skirt around them - as long as traffic is flowing!

So, would you say that the route using the Turnpike is the most straightforward then and just to swallow the charge for ease of driving? DH has been reluctant to drive anyway, so wanting to make his first experience as pain free as possible to ease him in to it and this will be his very first journey. I'll be using our Halifax Clarity card anyway, so if that's the cost it will only be a few pounds at the end of the day

Vickie In your situation I would do the toll road as it's easy. However Iliveoverhereorlando may pop back and say the other route is quieter, dont think there is much in it.
