Mobile car hire help alamo

Hi
I booked a car through alamo not alamo brits :-(. Just reading through threads and think I might not have enough insurance :-( I got a very good deal of $420 for full size for 17 days. I went through alamo as it was easier dealing in dollars instead of sterling as I live in ireland. Will I have to pay for extra insurance?

If you booked through Alamo USA then probably yes and it could end up costing you a lot more apart from the fact that you will have to go through the desk and deal with all that malarkey.
If it's a reservation you can cancel then keep checking the brokers over here and try to get a reservation that includes all insurances etc..probably cost you less in the long run.
Hopefully someone will come along with more information about this for you

Hi,

Thanks very much. Better to know now than costing fortune later :-) it's only a reservation so can cancel. Thought it was very cheap anyway.

Ok, when you book there is an option on the right, a tick box, that says Resident of US. Untick that, then select Ireland. That will probably then include the insurances, but the price will likely change. US residents are mostly covered by their own car insurance policies so don't require the extras that we do.

Pad406

Thanks very much. I am on my mobile and that box doesn't come up on the mobile :-( that must have been my problem first time.

Am getting a good price with argus car hire with dollar with cdw. It's cdw that I need? Sorry for all the questions.

Going in June and getting worried that I have everything sorted. Dh can do all the driving after this ;-)

On mobile it's just under where you enter the pickup/dropoff location.

Hi pad406

Thanks for all the help. $672 for full size. Way more expensive :-( getting good deals with aer lingus and argus car hire though :-)

I am going to cancel original booking :-)

One other question they have cdw with 0 excess but looking for €90 in case of tyres losing keys etc. Should I pay this for peace of mind.

Regards

stonemad - your quote may not include LDW (loss damage waiver)... I believe when booked thro a UK/EU agent/Alamo Brits LDW may be included. If you want more than one driver try a Google search for 'free additional driver with Alamo Brits'.

We own a motor here in SW Fla and hire a car to drive from/to MCO. I don't use our US car insurance, preferring to book via Budget UK for their insurance coverage.
