You could have a separate thread on whether you butter the outside of a toastie or not. I do but our youngest son doesn't although when he lived at home he never complained (much &#129315 but now different story.

Another vote for the Tefal Optigrill (I didnt go for the most fancy version - we have the one with less buttons and programmes which is absolutely fine). Can fit 3 panninis. i also griddled bacon, steak, salmon on it but we mostly use it for panninis or toasties. Easy to clean.
