Lallan's Last Min Family Vegas Vacay July 2019 Day 1 - Travel Day
13th July 2019 Last night after all the family had left from visiting the birthday boy we got our act together and finally packed the cases. So in the morning we said goodbye to our pooches and dropped them off for their holiday at mum and dads. They love it there and get absolutely spoiled by my dad. We always talk to them on FaceTime while we're away so it's helps with missing them. So it was down to Manchester we go. Nothing exciting to report really. It was actually a lovely sunny day so made for a nice drive down. We booked the Premier Inn Rugnar Lane at the airport - £86 for the night. We'd normally book the travellodge at parr's wood in didsbury as it's beside an entertainment complex and we go bowling but it was fully booked that night. Premier Inn was fine and very handy for the airport in the morning. We were all very excited about being in Vegas tomorrow! 14th July 2019 - Travel Day ✈️✈️✈️ We left the Premier Inn about 7am and drove to the airport to drop our car off at Meet and Greet at Terminal 1 - £70 booked via looking4parking. Checked our luggage in and I was randomly selected for an advanced security check. Headed to Boots and grabbed a meal deal each for breakfast and a load of extra bottles of juice and water for the plane. I'm wayyy too tight to pay for drinks on the plane, even if it is an 11 hour flight! The woman asked me if I wanted to use my advantage card points so it was actually free ☺️ Went to hang around our gate and noticed there was hardly any other family groups. Mostly couples and groups of friends...I had a quick panic of are we mad taking the kids to Vegas but oh well, too late to change the plans now! After my fairly straight forward extra security pat down we got boarded and the flight was due to depart at 9:15am. It was pretty much on time, maybe 10 mins later than scheduled. According to my pics this pic was taken at 9:21am...DS1&DS2 were sound asleep already! Flight was fine. I got stuck in to reading my pocket guide and adding to my notes. About 2 hours in meals were served. I had beef stroganoff. I'm strange and always look forward to plane food. The James Martin meals on Thomas Cook were one of my favorites and I'm going to miss them now! DH put his order in for the Airshoppen 4 bottles of blue label Smirnoff for £30 (something else we'll miss from Thomas cook!) and I bought us Ralph Lauren perfume and aftershave for £19 each. We'd bought this on the flight to Tenerife earlier in the year and loved it. We got our little Lily O'Brien cones and later our sandwiches. Although the flight is a few hours longer than Florida I felt it was fine. DS1 who is 14 loves his sleep and pretty much slept for most of the flight! DS3 was getting excited as we were about to land! Touched down in Vegas at midday. Security was pretty manic as soooo many flights seemed to arrive at the same time! At this point we were feeling tired and after waiting about an hour and a half we were finally through. After collecting our luggage we made our way towards the Uber pick up. Once there I ordered our ride, $26 dollars for a large car from Terminal 3 to Bally's. It was there to pick us up in seconds! Our first view coming up to the strip was exciting and our faces were like 🤩! Got to Bally's at 2pm. Had to explain to the guy at the desk that Thomas Cook would only allocate us two rooms as there was 5 of us but we only wanted one and was there anything he could do as we didn't want to pay resort fee for two rooms. He said no problem and that he'd give us a roll way bed and put us in one room. We were put in a side strip view room on the 17th floor of the Jubilee Tower, one from the top. We made our way through the casino to the lifts and up we went. The room was quite big and very modern. I'd read that a lot of rooms in Vegas were quite compact so I think we'd made a good choice in picking Bally's. The view from our room was amazing! You could see part of the Bellagio fountains and Caesar's. And directly onto the rooftop pool party bar Drais above the Cromwell. To the right was the High Roller. I couldn't wait to see all this at night with all the lights! We unpacked and had a quick lie down. Got changed then headed out for our first taste of the strip. We knew how hot it was going to be, of course we did ... we were in the desert in the middle of July! But no we bloody well didn't, nothing can prepare you for that heat. I have never felt anything like it in my life! The best way I can describe it is to imagine yourself being trapped inside an oven and someone also blowing a hairdryer in your face at the same time 🥵! So off we went through the Grand Bazaar shops outside Bally's and over the walkway to Bellagio then over to Caesar's. The only way I can describe these hotels is WOW! Had a wander through the shops in the Forum in Caesar's but we were feeling exhausted by this point and decided to head back to Bally's for food and get an early night so we were fresh to make the most of our full first day tomorrow. We went down to the food court in Bally's as we were too tired to hunt for a cheaper alternative for food. DH & I got Philly cheesesteaks from Nathan's and the boys all got meals from Johnny Rockets. I unfortunately can't find my notebook at the moment that has all my spends noted so I'm only going by the pics on my phone for guidance for this report just now. I normally take pics of receipts but I must have been too tired tonight as I didn't take pics of the prices! I just remember commenting saying it was so overpriced but we had to eat. It was 8pm by this time and we took our food up to our room. I opened the curtains just as the sun was setting and Vegas was beginning to light up. We must have all fallen asleep by 9pm as we were completely wiped out! I woke up at 1am and had a peek out the window. You could hear the pool part across the road but it wasn't too loud to disturb us. Back to bed and slept like a baby as the beds were super comfy! 💤

Luckily our kids are very well travelled now and enjoy it 😊
Totally recommend Vegas with kids! I think there’s so much going on there it can be any kind of holiday you want to make it. We filled our days with things suited to families. DH and I obviously couldn’t hang around the casinos or bars but that’s not our scene any way. The boys and I all said it’s one of if not THE best holiday we’ve ever had 😎 x

A great travel day. So sad that Thomas Cook is no longer trading. Your boys did well on such a long flight.
