What if I have to cancel car?

Hi,
We are booked to go to Florida July 2021. We’ve booked a package through TUI which we booked before all this covid stuff kicked off. I’m starting to look at car hire as this is not included in our package. I see Andy from discount Florida car hire is very popular on here so I’ve been looking on their website and have a few questions.

1. If we can’t travel because of covid restrictions or quarantine restrictions on returning to the UK, and have to cancel, will I lose my money?
2. I’m looking at possibly a pick up type truck (2A + 2C) does the back have a cover? This would only be needed for travelling to hotel from airport and back again, I’ve heard stories of luggage been stolen at traffic lights? Not sure how true this is

Many thanks in advance 😬

In my opinion Andy at DFCH offers the best customer service of any car hire broker.

He's always offered free cancellation without penalty and during the Covid crisis he's actually been emailing customers encouraging them to cancel or reschedule. We've used him around six time in the last three years. He's always competitive for us and his customer service is excellent.

He emailed us about our April booking but rather than cancel we moved it to November. Sadly looking like we may be moving again to next April.

No experience of trucks I'm afraid. We always go for a full size car.

Mick

Another vote for Andy !
We had our April trip cancelled, Andy sent an email to offer cancellation or rebook.
We opted for a refund and the money was back on my credit card within 3 days ... absolutely fab service.
We will definitely be booking next years trip through him 👍🏻

What I forgot to say is that if you see your booking with Andy come down in price you can cancel and rebook without penalty. Easily done through "Manage my booking" on his web site.

Can you tell how happy I am posting about car hire again after a barren 6 months.

You can also be sure that your car will be fully insured as well which sadly you can't when booking a car with Tui.

Mick

Pickups do not usually have a cover.

Yes we were stung by the insurance thing the first time we went in 2013 🤬 lesson definitely learned!

Andy (and hopefully all reputable UK brokers ) will include CDW with no excess and $1m SLI (aka EP). Sadly Tui's base for their included "free" car will only have the state minimum SLI of $25k. Often cheaper to ditch the Tui car and rent from scratch than pay Tui add on costs.
