It’s Christmas ‘22-Disneyland Paris-Day 1

19th December
All of us are off work today, good job as it’s busy. We have the seat Leon being collected. Washing, packing, wrapping and hairs to do. Cooking for Christmas hasn’t been done. It was a very made rush but we managed to get in bed just before 9.

20th December- Day 1

I haven’t slept much. The four hours I was in bed I was tossing and turning. I always get like this before a holiday as I over think and panic. I set the alarm for 1.30am but I was already up. I got in the shower, washed and dried my hair. Everyone was getting up and ready to leave.
We sorted the house and left at 2.30am. So far we are on schedule. I was driving. Scott hates it when I drive but he didn’t want to drive my crap car pso I was left on those stupid little roads in pitch black. Anyway we managed to make it there by 4am even though I didn’t drive the speed limit. After finding the car park and parking up it was a 10min walk to find the terminal. We sort of just guessed and luckily managed. We got the check in desk and it’s all automatic. We hadn’t printed out the boarding passes as Scott said it worked on the app so the machine wouldn’t work but luckily we logged back in and managed to print the luggage label and but it on the belt to be taken. Security done next which was super quick and we went to get a seat.

I went and got a Starbucks coffee for Scott, orange juice for the kids and cinnamon roll. We had over an hour to wait and the kids played on their phone.

We were waiting to see which gate we needed to be at. It popped up at 6.10 on the screen. Quick toilet and we were in the queue. EasyJet ones are weird little planes and I don’t like them. We had to walk up the funny stairs to the plane from outside. We sat in the three seats and Scarlett sat across.

Georgia and Scott slept most of the way there.

I really tried to as I was shattered and Scarlett played on her phone. Glad it wasn’t a long flight. We set off at 7.20 on the plane and landed at 8.30. This was now 9.30 though as we are in France.

The boarder control took a bit longer than we thought. We were never going to make the taxi thing we had booked that were supposed to meet us at 10. We managed to get through and get our bag and Georgia spotted my name on the board. We followed the guy to the minivan and it was a 40min car ride to get to the hotel Cheyenne. We pulled up around 11.15.

When you pull up it looks like a western, quite quaint. We checked in early, dropped the bag off and got my disability card. We caught the bus to Disney Village which didn’t seem to take long at all. Through baggage check in and through the Disneyland hotel and we were finally in the park.

It had just turn 12, everyone was hungry so we went to the first place we saw for some food. We looked in the sweet shop and bought a mickey cookie. Then we went to Market House Deli. We got two ham and cheese toasties, water and coffee. No one liked the toasties. The water was ridiculously expensive but the coffee was ok.

We weren’t sure what to do or where to go. We looked on the app and pirates had a low queue time so we went towards that. Somehow we ended up in frontier land instead and as we were passing we decided to test out how this disability card works. Now there isn’t many upside to all the issues I have. But this has definitely been one. We went into the priority queue for big thunder mountain and after 7mins of queuing we were on the ride. This was the first time Georgia has been on it. Last time it was just Scarlett and Scott while we had ice cream so I haven’t been on it for 14 years either and none of us on this particular one either. It’s a completely different track to Florida. I like this one but it reminded me straight away why I now don’t like rides. Came off it feeling sick but the kids loved it. Especially Georgia who was dancing around. Scarlett came off a bit like Wednesday as usual, seems to be the running trend with her since she turned 8.

Next we went to the pirates of the Caribbean ride that we were originally looking for.

It only took a few minutes to get on. It’s longer than the Florida one and has more drops. The kids enjoyed it. Scott not so much but we were glad we had tried it. They still have changed some bits like the sale of the lady but at least we didn’t get wet.

Having said that we were getting soaked outside in the rain anyway. Really soggy feet in our trainers. We walked out to go through fantasy land. We passed a stall that had mini donut type things so we got one of those with icing sugar on and a coffee.

Unfortunately they were stodgy. Worse than when I cooked my homemade Yorkshire puddings that one time. The kids ate them though, hope they won’t have upset tummy’s.

We carried on wandering around and decided me and Scarlett would go and do space mountain as Georgia wasn’t tall enough when I measured at home. She sprinted across to double check and she must have had a growth spurt as she’s just tall enough.

Around to the priority line and straight on. I now know why my mother was a bag lady when she went to Disney all those years ago when I was little, I’m going that way as I no longer enjoy these kids of rides and Scott doesn’t either. It was fast and it went upside down. I got off and felt sick. Worth it was those two loved it but oh I felt so sick. So what’s best when you feel sick but to go on another ride. The next one we went on was star tours. It was very much like the one in Florida. Again only Scarlett had been on this so we all enjoyed the ride but won’t be repeating it. Not until we are in Florida as regardless as much go on it with the price of those tickets!

We couldn’t decide what to do next but we wanted to get all the big things ticked off if we could. I looked for phantom manor which is apparently in frontier land but we hadn’t seen it when we were there earlier. We managed to find it and after a short queue we were on. It’s different to Florida it’s more about the jilted bride but it still had the singing heads. The kids weren’t too impressed with this ride. I thought it was nice to see something different but I prefer the normal one. We got some bugles and a drink from the cart outside and decided to set off back to the room.

We did call at the Disney shop on the way back and picked up a snow globe and a fridge magnet. It was only about 15mins walk through Disney village to get to the Hotel Cheyenne, we had a mulled wine from a little Christmas stall while we walked. Disney had text me the room number while we were in the park. We got to the room about 3.20ish and I started get the room sorted and everything unpacked.

To say that it’s Disney I did expect the standard to be better. I know I have booked the lowest star rooms as we aren’t that bothered but it was really quite dirty in the halls etc. the room is manageable but I would get annoyed at the lack of cleanliness had I have been here more than a few nights.

We were all very tired and very hungry. We made the mistake of going to rainforest cafe when we swore we wouldn’t do that again after the one in Florida. Scott had some kind of steak and shrimp, I had sausage type pasta and the kids had childrens meals.

We spent way more that what the dinner was worth. The food was ok but not fantastic and the animals hardly moved, either the animatronics are out of date or something is up with them as they moved way more at the Orlando one. We did have a nice walk through the Disney village for some fizzy cola laces and we got a coffee from Starbucks back at the hotels. We managed to be in bed for 8.30pm. After getting up at a ridiculous hour we were like walking zombies.
