Day 2 - Disneyland Park & Drinks at Art of Marvel Hotel

Night 2 was another good sleep and we were up with the alarm again around 6:45am.

I managed to figure out the Levazza coffee machine this morning (the water tank had been a bit loose), but the coffee was too strong for me so I could drink it and made do with some leftover Fanta from last night’s vending machine haul.

We were heading for Extra Magic Hours at Walt Disney Studios this morning. Rich and I were ready by 7:45am…

Tom and Lola needed another 10 mins when we knocked-on for them, so we headed outside…

I took a few pics of La Roserie whilst Rich had a smoke…

Our room (with the light on)…

I think we must’ve started walking at around 8am, as I was taking pics outside the park entrance at 8:18am. Bag check took a little bit longer this morning, but still only a few minutes. I was the only one with a bag so the others got to go through the no-bags line…

As we were a bit later getting to the park (and it was a Saturday) there were already 5-6 lines of guests waiting for Extra Magic hours…

We picked the wrong line and there seemed to be lots of guests having issues scanning in. Even so, we were in by 8:35am…

We stopped for drinks at the Hep Cat Corner in Studio 1…

I had a Cappuccino and I think Rich had a Coke (no receipt)…

Tom and Lola got their own drinks and I didn’t make a note of what they had.

There were a lot of construction walls…

By 8:40 we were joining the line for Crush’s Coaster, which said 35mins on standby…

We filled the queue time by chatting and ended up riding at about 9:25am…

It was a fun coaster with good theming. Lola did really well considering it probably the biggest coaster she’s ever done.

We headed to Ratatouille next. The Paris area of the park was beautifully themed (and my favourite area from both parks)…

We joined the queue at 9:35am - it was showing as a 20 min standby, which was accurate. The rooftop section of the queue was lovely…

The ride was good. Not the best trackless dark-ride we’ve done, but well themed, and walking out past the Bistro Chez Remy windows was a nice touch.

Rich and Tom grabbed a nicotine fix after the ride…

We decided to split up for a few hours, as Tom and Lola wanted to grab some food.

There were some Christmassy food festival booths in the Paris area, and we saw Tom and Lola join one of the queues. Rich and I also ended up getting a Bretzel Fromage from the Les Recettes de La Gigone booth (€5). We shared it and it was nice…

After our snack, Rich and I headed to Avengers Campus…

Flight Force was a 20 min standby so we headed in…

The queue went quite quickly, but we didn’t see the Iron Man costume / statue.

Flight Force was good but very intense. I put a message in our WatsApp group afterwards to say it’s probably not for Lola (she’d been considering giving it a go as it was in the dark, so not so scary).

11am - It was raining now…

We had a look in the Web store and saw Spider-Man waving down to the crowds…

A Sooty update came through from Kitty Angels - he was fine…

Tower of Terror was showing around 25 mins, but neither of us were too bothered about queuing for it…

We decided to do the 11:15 Stitch Live show, as it was the only one in English for the next few hours…

Rich had a quick smoke and we joined the queue. There were a big family in front of us and the Dad and a couple of the kids did the “just joining our family” thing. Usually we’d let this go, but the Cast Member literally cut off the queue saying the theatre was full at me and Rich, so we wouldn’t be getting in

Rich pointed out to the Cast Member that the family had queue jumped and the Dad got very defensive. The Cast Member didn’t do anything. Rich argued with them for a bit, explaining that what they’d done was queue jumping. I even joined in, telling the Mum that it wasn’t proper quinine etiquette. I don’t think she liked that

We were a bit miffed about missing the show, but more so about waiting in the rain. We took our moral high ground and had a mooch through the Toy Story area, then headed for Cars Road Trip, which was a 5 minute (1 tram) wait…

It was short, but good and the Cars-tastrophe Canyon bit was good - a nice classic Hollywood Studios memory…

We decided to head back to the Hotel for a rest, seeing Goofy as we were leaving the park at 11:50 (we were still chuckling about the disturbing Goofy scene in Paradise PD)…

The Mickey and Minnie statues outside World of Disney…

Although it wasn’t too long until our 3pm reservation at Bistro Chez Remy, I really wanted to try a Croque Monsieur and Cappuccino from the Rosalie counter in Disney Village…

Rich had a Fondant Au Chocolat and I got myself a cheeky Madeline De Commercy too (Total €21.80).

It was the tiniest Cappuccino ever (not much bigger than an Espresso)…

We stood by a wet bench next to the lake to eat. The sandwich was vey nice, with loads of Ham and a toasty cheese topping, but it was quite cold in the centre. Is that how they serve it in France?

I was going to save my Madeline for later, but ended up nomming it on the walk back. It was lovely. Rich enjoyed his Fondant too.

We took a few pics of the Iron Man statue and of the view over the lake…

We arrived back at the hotel by 12:20pm - we’d walked just over 10,000 steps this morning 👣

We messaged Tom and Lola. They’d ended up leaving the park just after 10:30am to get a Maccy’s breakfast. They both had McPlatter meals which were a bargain (Total €11.20)…

Then they headed back to the room to chill out and rest for a few hours.

We arranged to meet them outside to head back to the park at 2:20pm, and settled down for a rest / nap.

I think I slept for a bit but can’t remember.

I was up, dressed and ready by 2pm, so headed down to the lobby area for a mooch around - it was nice, with a good selection in the shop…

They also had a Starbucks but I’m not a fan (it’s too bitter)…

I had a nosey in the laundry / vending room and got me and Rich a Coke to share (€4)…

We all walked back to the park (it was still drizzling), and we arrived at 2:40pm…

We headed back to the Paris area, via Toy Story…

We checked in a few mins early for our 3pm Bistro Chez Remy reservation, waiting a few mins to be seated…

The theming was fab, and we were at the back by the ride end and the Anyone Can Cook photo opp…

Rich was unintentionally channelling Anton Ego..

Service was friendly and efficient, but not rushed.

We all had a Coke to drink and all ordered from the Remy Menu (Starter and Main - €40)…

For starters, we chose…

Me - Duck with Thyme Flower & Pistachio En Croute, Fig Jam
Lola - Seasonal (Pumpkin) Soup with The Laughing Cow & Mixed Herbs
Rich & Tom - Mixed Greens, Tomato Confit, Poached Egg, crunchy Radishes and Vegetable Vinaigrette

I was really surprised by Tom and Rich’s choice , as they aren’t Salad people, but they were drawn in by the poached egg.

My duck was really nice. I was expecting a soft pate, but it was good and Tom and Rich both tried a bit and agreed it was like a duck pork pie…

Tom and Rich did well with their salads, enjoying the egg and tomatoes - Rich didn’t get any tomatoes on his, so Tom gave him a couple of his…

Lola enjoyed her soup. She doesn’t eat a lot, so Tom had some too with a couple of bread rolls…

For Mains, we all chose the Grilled Steak, Ratatouille & French Fries - the waiter explained they didn’t offer Medium-Rare, so Rich and I went for Medium and Tom and Lola went for Rare. Tom and I chose Béarnaise sauce, Rich had Maude Mustard & Tarragon and I think Lola had Brie

They arrived a few minutes after our starters were cleared, our steaks arrived….

We’d read misused reviews on these, but we all enjoyed it and the steak was a decent quality. I’d say mine and Rich’s were more Medium Rare than Medium though.

We were all done and had settled the bill by 4pm (No receipt, but it was £158.49 on my statement).

I took a few more pics on the way out…

Then we popped into the shop to look at the Ratatouille merch. I got a park magnet (€6) and Lola got some pick and mix sweets…

We thought Cars Road Trip would be the best option to ride as we were all full, so headed there…

It was a 5 min / 1 tram wait again. Lola of course had no idea what to expect, so we sat her closest to Cars-tastrophe Canyon. I think she enjoyed it 😂💦

I had to take this pic…

4:40pm - We were all flagging a bit and Lola needed to sit down as her feet were hurting, so we decided to do the 5:15pm Frozen show.

It was raining again, and I was wearing the trainers I’d tried to clean on Thursday night. They were getting a bit foamy…

They let us inside at 5pm, but the queue was standing right until the last minute. They showed the 100 Year Celebration animation as a pre show which was nice. I’d seen it on Disney+ but the others hadn’t.

The Frozen show was ok and a good mix of French and English so we could follow along with the plot. The benches were very uncomfortable though and moving rooms half way through was a bit awkward. Despite that, it was an ok show, and Rich even joined in with the actions…

We had a mooch in the Animation building after the show - the Zoetrope was cool…

We’d seen on the App that there wasn’t an an Avengers Drone show tonight, so we all agreed to head back to the hotel for another rest, and maybe come back out around 8pm to do the last couple of hours in Disneyland Park (which was open till 10pm tonight).

We were back at the hotel by 6:15pm (and up to 18,664 steps now &#128099.

We chilled in our rooms, sharing a few pics on WatsApp. Tom and Lola messaged to say that they weren’t too bothered about going back into the park. Rich and I weren’t either, so we all agreed we’d just do Disney Village instead.

At about 7:30pm, Tom messaged to say they were getting the hotel bus to see if the shop in the train station had any Paracetamol (I only had Ibruprofen in my first aid kit). Rich and I would’ve gone too, but they were already on the bus. Instead we walked to Earl of Sandwich and said we’d meet them there.

Rich and I arrived at Earl at 8:15pm. We weren’t mega hungry, so ordered a Pizza Chorizo and a Coke to share now and an Original (Double, no Horseradish) with Crisps to have in the room later (€33).

Tom and Lola arrived whilst our food was being prepared. They did the same and got a Pizza for now and a Sandwich for later.

The pizza was nice and just enough to top us up…

8:45pm - We had a long mooch in the Lego store…

And then I looked in the Art store, where Tom and Lola bought an Eiffel Tower Stitch statue (€25) - it was packed really well…

We decided to head to Sports Bar for a sit down and a drink. Rich popped to the loo and Lola got a Table whilst Tom and I went in to order. There was a bit of confusion with the waitress but we ended up ordering at the bar. Tom wanted to pay but I insisted on paying for mine and Rich’s.

Rich had a Coke and I had a mocktail called Sports Beach (€13.80), which was really nice (better than the Avengers one last night)…

Tom also had a Coke. Lola had asked for a Lemonade, but he got her a glass of White Wine too (€15.60).

We all chilled for a while enjoying our drinks and chatting. There was a PSG match on the big screen.

After our drinks, we had a look in a few more shops (Tom and Lola bought a Bib for her nephew Bodhi). They were also looking for a gift for her neice Ava, but decided to wait and get something from Paris tomorrow.

10:20pm - We decided to have a final mooch in World of Disney. I was still on the hunt for a Christmas Ornament (preferably something Ratatouille) and we hadn’t seen much Christmas stuff on this trip.

Rich and I got some Belgian Fries from one of the little stalls on the way (about $5). They were really nice…

Lola got a Chocolate dipped Strawberry skewer (no pic or price).

Rich and Lola waited outside as Lola was still eating her strawberries and there was no food allowed. Tom and I had a quick 5 minute mooch, but we could only find a couple of Phatom Manor / Hounted Mansion ornaments. I’ve already got a Doom Buggy one, so didn’t want another.

We all headed back to the hotel, arriving back at around 11pm. I remembered that I had some Cura Heat patches in my kit, so took them next door for Lola, who was still feeling the effects of 2 days of theme-parking.

Rich and I tucked into our Sandwich and Crisps. It was really nice, even though the bread had gone a smidgen soggy due to the steam…

We settled down at around 11:30pm and were soon asleep.
