Hi
I have signed up for Dollar Express. 1. After adding my booking, can I avoid the desk and go straight to the garage. 2.Does anyone have feedback they can give on Dollar Express (Good or bad) Thanks |

I’ve booked through Auto Europe. I’ve got the option of Dollar Early Check in but I assume this is different from the Skip the Counter?

I did Dollar Early Check In and instructed that I had to go to the counter. When I went to the counter I was told could go to garage which I did. Garage then tried to send me to the counter; told him been sent there by the counter, so he then processed. I believe that the counter was incorrect and the garage correct, but was happy to avoid any attempt to add extras. Bad news was they didn't appear to have a car in the class I ordered, but was offered 2 alternatives which were acceptable.

I had ordered a Nissan Maxima or similar car. I was offered a VW Atlas SUV or a Kia Stinger. Was told both were upgrades, though I did struggle to understand what the man who dealt with me was saying. Chose the Kia as to date have preferred cars (which I may review on any future visits). Returned the Kia after a few days as the boot latch broke. Was offered a Camry which I knew was a downgrade which I refused and was then offered a Mercedes 300 with 500 miles on the clock. Not sure what class this was, but was a high quality car.
In both transactions the class of car was not something I was told, and given my ignorance of what classes the 3 I was offered were in I just picked the ones I liked best. I would say that neither the Kia or Mercedes were able to take 2 large cases in the boot, the Atlas could have comfortably taken them. This was the first time I hadn't used Alamo who just tell you to pick from a section, though even there I understand you can't be certain they are the corect class. |

We arrived on May 16th.
We booked Dollar through AutoEurope. However we had previously enrolled for Dollar Express for a couple of previous trips. Prior to leaving for this trip I completed Dollar early check in but because we had booked through AE I presumed we would need to go to the counter. When we arrived at the counter (no queue) we were told to go straight to garage as we were Dollar Express members. Upon arrival at the garage we were told this was not the case but the guy said he would do the necessary regardless. We were allocated our SUV with no hassle at all. DH preferred the look of the seven seater in the next parking bay and so went back and asked the guy if we could swap. Clearly an upgrade but we got the bigger SUV at no charge. Happy days. We be been quite brave since Covid in moving away from Alamo and simply going with the best price and so far we have not encountered any major issues having booked with Sixt, Thrifty, Hertz and Dollar ![]() Edited at 03:59 PM. |
