Transatlantic/Repositioning Cruise - any comments?

So got holidays booked and nowhere to go - got to keep the cost down because we are doing up the house ready to sell.

Has anyone done the transatlantic cruising?

Any tips/ advice gratefully received

We love doing transatlantic cruises, such good value. We have done one with Disney and another with NCL. We always do west bound to gain hours rather than lose them and then we tag on a Disney stay at the end. We always like to choose a warm itinerary too.

We are doing the Disney transatlantic this year from Dover to New York . Its stopping in UK, Ireland, and then Canada and New York. Not overly bothered by where it goes, but actually looking forward to Canada as I have never been. Although it will be colder! Transatlantic sailings are good value!

We’ve done it, ours was in September a few years ago and went from Southampton to New York calling at Norway, the shetlands, 3 places in Iceland, Newfoundland and Canada, it cost just under £1000 each, before gratuities, shore excursions etc.
We absolutely loved every second, and topped it off with a weeks stay in New York

We've done 2 transatlantic cruises on Disney - both US to Europe and later this year we are doing Europe to US on Royal Caribbean. Loved both of the trips - lots of sea days so plenty of relaxing and exploring the ship and all it has to offer. One was warm and super smooth, the other was much cooler and rough on the actual 5 days crossing from Canada to Ireland (think pools emptied and upper decks closed).

Personally, we like the TA's for the length of time on the ship (around 2 weeks) and the number of sea days. Trip 1 was 14 days and we went to 3 ports - the rest were days at sea and the 2nd trip (also 14 days) had 4 ports of call so the rest were sea days.

Can't wait fro our next one

Would love to do them. Can only do normal cruises due to OH being lecturer and stuck with holiday dates. They provide real value for money compared to normal cruises, seen them at £50 a day before.

Have done 4 with DCL, all westbound - like Leanne, we like to gain hours if possible.

The DCL ones tend to go north now to Canada and we've done that twice so we didn't book it this year or next.

When they go back to the Caribbean, we'll probably book another. Panama Canal ones are our new favourite.
