Go on the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. We saw loads, also birds and turtles. Its free as well! Only open weekends and holidays.

Saw this on a Dibbers trip report and googled it looks really interesting. Plan to do in October. If in the car at least the mozzzies won't be able to bite DW.

It was really good. Took us about 1 1/2 hours.

merritt island wildlife reserve too, went in jan/feb and there were loads of gators, some real big ones too! also lots of migrating birds.
also saw racoons and turtles, also turkey vultures and an armadillo at the side of the road that came right up to us, went again yesterday and less birds and gators, still saw some though, also kayaking at wekieva springs theres usually gators and turtles around.

port canaveral is also a good place to see sea turtles and occasional dolphins. blue springs in jan/feb for manatees.

It's ace. We did it last month, after Chris spotted it on the Florida on a Tankful section on the news channel.

Didn't have an issue with mossies, but you could saddle the dragonflies to fly home, they were huge!
