you can add ddp to a disney direct booking at any time . However be warned if you've already booked through a TA s I've head it can be tricky to add on later. If you have not yet booked just wait until the offer comes out normally end of April.

Free DDP is usually released around the end of April and finishes November. If you miss the offer for any reason you can add DDP for full price but if you book now/before the offer starts you won't be able to add DDP for free.

Not sure if free dining plan is included for month of December. So not sure if you have to wait until April if it is for a December trip.

Depends when in December you're planning to go. Historically, the UK offer has only included check in dates up to 30th November, so you could get it for the first 2 weeks of December if your first night is in November. To get it for later in December for free you'd need to book the US offer which won't be out until April/May 2018 with no that that it will be free dining.

I think we have decided. We are going to book direct with disney just now and add flights on when they become available.

Going to stay at Pop Century or Caribbean Beach... exciting! Never stayed on site before

If you plan on staying onsite next year definitely wait until the end of April when free dining is historically released. Don't book before then.
