We are finally returning in August 2018 - Draft plan

Hi all

7 years after our honeymoon in 2011, we are for the first time in the financial position to return to our special place. We've had 3 trips to DLP which we love, but we really cannot wait to return to WDW.

On this trip it will be me, Kirstie (my wife), Ivy our daughter who will be 5 years old when we go and my Mum Sue who will be 65.

I loved planning for our honeymoon and even planned for our short trips to DLP, so as you can imagine I am already well into planning for Augusts trip.

Being acutely aware that young and old will need rest days during the holiday we decided to stay offsite and rent a Dibb villa. We decided to go for Treefield Villa in the High Grove complex, which is about 15 to 20 mins drive from the parks.

We have decided to stick to WDW as we don't think Ivy will get much out of Universal yet.

So here is our draft plan. Obviously this may change depending on Fast passes and ADR's. We have already purchased the 14 day tickets with Memory Maker and rented a car.

I welcome any comments and suggestions.

Thursday 16th August -

Overnight stay at the BLOC hotel at Gatwick, with evening meal at Giraffe.

Friday 17th August-

We are flying Premium economy with Thomas Cook. We will most likely have a good English breakfast at the airport to nourish us for the long travel day ahead. Once we arrive at the Villa we will nip to Walmart for some provisions and then order a takeaway to eat in the villa (Takeaway suggestions welcome).

Saturday 18th August -

Morning: Epcot Rope Drop - We will try and do Frozen and then spend rest of the morning in future world.
Lunch: Sunshine Seasons.
Afternoon: Resting at Villa / Pool time.
Dinner: Millers Ale House
Evening: Rest at Villa.

Sunday 19th August -
Morning: Breakfast at Tusker House and Animal Kingdom.
Lunch: at Villa with 2 - 3 hour rest.
Late afternoon & Evening: Animal Kingdom.
Dinner: Flametree BBQ

Monday 20th August -
Rest day at Villa
Breakfast: IHOP
A trip to Disney Springs
Dinner: T-Rex at Disney Springs

Tuesday 21st August -

Morning: Magic Kingdom rope drop
Lunch: Villa with 2 - 3 hour rest
Late afternoon & Evening: Magic Kingdom including fireworks
Dinner: Be Our Guest

Wednesday 22nd August -
Breakfast: Denny's
Morning: Rest at Villa / Pool time
Afternoon and Evening: Hollywood Studios including night time show.
Dinner: Sci-fi diner

Thursday 23rd August -

Rest Day with pool time
Fit in a round of Mini- Golf.
Nanny to look after Ivy whilst T&K have a date night at World Showcase and the Boardwalk. We plan to use Uber to get around.

Friday 24th August -
Breakfast: Bon Voyage Breakfast at Boardwalk.
Morning: Epcot - with a focus on World Showcase.
Lunch: World Showcase counter service (we fancy either Mexico or Morocco.
Afternoon: Rest at Villa for 3 to 4 hours.
Late afternoon & Evening: Back at Epcot for ROE.

Saturday 25th August -
Morning: Rest at Villa / Pool time including lunch
Afternoon: Animal Kingdom
Dinner: Outback Steakhouse

Sunday 26th August -
Rest Day
Breakfast: Perkins
Afternoon: Shopping at Outlets inc. Bargain hunting - Fit in a round of mini-golf (probably Winter Summerland)
Evening: Splitsville for some Bowling at something to eat.

Monday 27th August -

Breakfast: Ohana
Morning: Magic Kingdom
Lunch: Columbia Harbour House (Lobster roll please!)
Afternoon: Magic Kingdom
Evening: Rest at Villa and eat in. Perhaps watch a film on the Villa cinema screen.

Tuesday 28th August -

Morning: Hollywood Studios
Lunch: At Villa including 2 - 3 hour rest
Late afternoon and evening: Hollywood Studios including night time show. Still deciding on where to eat.

Wednesday 29th August -
Rest Day at Villa with pool time and perhaps a trip to the cinema.
Dinner: Applebee's

Thursday 30th August -
Last full day
All Day with no rest: Magic Kingdom including Fireworks and a sad goodbye - Still planning on where to eat but probably going to skip a meal to get in some serious snacking.

Friday 31st August -
Lazy morning at Villa including packing
Spend some time at Disney Springs including trying Blaze Pizza's
Catch our flight home.

Saturday 1st September -

Arrive at Gatwick at 7.30am feeling jealous of family members who can sleep on planes. Get taxi home and start planning Christmas at DLP :-)

Takeaway suggestions - Chilis do a good takeout (wings, nachos etc.) which I believe you are close too. Also you can't go wrong with a taco bell or pizza
On the MK and AK days are you going to the parks then back to the villa, and then back to the parks again at the evening? That sounds tiring!
I'd 100% recommend at least doing 1 waterpark day!
Also, Florida Mall is good for shopping

Thanks for your tips. Chilli's take out sounds good.

We decided that our daughter will need a rest during the days we do rope drop and then want to do a night time show. Especially in the August heat. I agree it sounds like hassle going and coming back but our villa isn't too far away.

Fair enough!
Are you thinking of doing a water park day? These are great fun and you can have a nap on the sun loungers in the shade - bonus!

We thought about it but decided to give them a miss this year. I've done both in the past.

Kirstie, Tony's wifey here. I'm working on Tony for the water parks idea! Even if I take little one and drop him off at Epcot on route. Thanks for the sun loungers tip, are they difficult to reserve though?

Also which might be best for a 5 year old paddler, but non-swimmer do you think?

Hi Kirstie!

Sun loungers are very easy to reserve if you get there for opening and wanting to go in the shade
I'd recommend Typhoon Lagoon for children! Blizzard beach had more daring rides but TL has a bigger lazy river, larger wave pool and childrens slides/family raft

Another one who woukd recommend TL. I'm a non swimmer and enjoyed the pool and youngest loved the kiddie area and there is a slide for kids just before the wave pool. They also have free life vests for the kids.

I've read on here that you can rent loungers if you didn't want to get there for park opening so I'm going to research that option.
