Any advantage to disney cruise transport v limo?

Hi - 1st cruise gulp

Is there any advantage to using the disney cruise transport to/from WDW - port Canaveral v just hiring a taxi/towncar?

I was thinking in terms of them handling baggage any better or anything like that? or do the bags travel with you and you get them off and join the queues just like you would if you got a taxi?

Reason I'm mainly asking is, we wont actually be onsite on the day we'll be joining the cruise, we'll be in a villa, so a taxi would probably be better BUT if there were any advantages to disney transport, we could do a night at a disney hotel?

Hi Keith and welcome to the cruise forum!

So, the benefits are:
1. You get to go on a DCL coach which is all lovely on the outside. It plays videos on the way and gets you all excited for the cruise.

That's it.

Benefits to a private transfer:
1. Cheaper if more 3 or more of you (DCL transfers are $35 pp each way)
2. You dictate the time of collection (with DCL, their picks up from Disney resorts are not until around 10:30-12:30)

Luggage is the same either way - you (or the driver) loads it into the vehicle and unloads it on arrival, you then take it through security yourself.

Have you thought about doing a one way car rental? If you've got a car anyway, you may as well use it - or you can park it at port/off port.
