Just don't do the cruise at the start!
Always book the cruise DIY - either through a good US TA or direct. Same price either way and good/bad for each option. If you book a split stay at a Disney resort, you can leave some of your luggage with them and they will move it to the next resort for you (if you change resorts). If you're staying at the same resort, they will just hold your luggage. No need to take it all with you on the ship if you don't have to! Booking a 3 night cruise takes away staying at a resort over a weekend which is the more expensive time, but most regular cruisers would suggest trying to have a 4 night (Mon - Fri) instead as the 3 night will be over before you've even got on the ship. 3 night cruises are generally Fri - Mon. Just wondering why you say not to do at the start? We'd have rather done middle of holiday but due to free dining plan and cost of the cruise it worked out better for us to do at the start and not the end (was a lot more cost at the end).

This year I booked my cruise first. 7 nights in the western caribbean with RC. After this I booked my flight and hotel with Virgin. I then booked OKW through Dave's DVC club.
So my intinery is 10 nights at Cabana Bay, 7 night cruise then 3 nights at OKW. Just took my time and booked it all separately. Good luck |

We are doing the cruise first, but I can understand why you say have the cruise second, as it’s more relaxing.
After our cruise we are having 5 nights at Art of Animation resort with perhaps 2 days at the parks, so hardly full on.

Thank you for all the comments :-) it’s been really helpful. Will look into the 4 night cruise and will probably pop it at the end of our holiday x

For no other reason than the cruise is the relaxing part of the holiday (for most people).
It certainly won't ruin your holiday if you cruise at the start, but you'll have to prepare yourself for the onslaught of parks after a relatively relaxing time.

Ahhh yes, totally agree! We won't be battering the parks anyway (or at least don't plan too!)

Can I ask why you say not to do the cruise at the start of the holiday? This is what we were thinking of doing as it's our first cruise. Was thinking that if for any reason we didn't like the cruise we would be coming back to land knowing we had another part of the holiday to look forward to etc. PLus also would have chance to get land legs back, before then flying home, rather than straight off the ship and fly home.
Thanks for any info. Whoops, just seen your reply to someone else lol That's fine then as we would be in a villa and not doing parks at the end anyway, so would work fine for us.
