If you are off on excursions, are there any issues making dinner on the first sitting?

I did late and had an aperitif whilst watching the show and then went to dinner. On port days gave me more time to chill by the pool before dinner too.
Lots on after dinner too even if you watched the early show.

It depends what cruise you're on. The Med cruises have very long days and the DCL excursions can be upwards of 9 hours ashore. They do push back the timings for both dinners, but some people still miss it (plenty of other options to eat though).

We were on the Med cruise and had the early sitting. We only did half day excursions so no issues. Some who did the whole day ones such as Rome chose to change to the later sitting as it gave them time to get changed and recover.

We were on the med cruise a couple of years ago and did a long day out in Rome. We had told our servers and table mates the day before that we would likely be late back, and to not wait for us. We arrived back on the ship around 6.30pm.

We did early seating last time as it was our son’s preference but we have chosen late for next year as some days we were just not hungry enough that early after lunch and ice cream etc in the afternoon! Also there were a lot of small children for th early seating and as our son will be 18 next year we fancy a later and quieter meal!

I was a group of three adults. We liked the second seating for dinner, as mentioned by Joa, it gives you more time to chill out by the pool or whatever you are doing. Or even just a bit more time in your stateroom getting ready. Plus there tends to be less children in the second seating. But if you’re on a Disney cruise then you probably don’t have too much of a problem being around Children.

We prefer the anytime dining so we can fit it around our plans for the day. If its a shore day then we don't need to be back quickly etc. That said we do find we eat roughly the same time each day which is normally between the early and late sitting.
