No more doggy rooms at Disney!
Another site is reporting that as of October 15th, 2018, the "trial period" where WDW resorts were allowing dogs to stay at certain resorts will be ending.
Here's the quote from their newsletter: "It seems that the trial program that started last October will conclude this October 15, and Walt Disney World will no longer feature dog-friendly rooms at its resorts, with the exception of certain Fort Wilderness campsites, which have always been pet-friendly." Seems like a good call to me as I've seen a lot of negative comments around this. I like dogs as much as the next person, but I was still crossing my fingers not to get a doggy smelling room at PORS! I also read PORS doesn't have a proper dog exercise area and guests complained of dog mess around the grounds. I'm guessing this won't impact many people here as we don't tend to take our dogs with us flying from the UK! |

That is good news.
I love dogs but I don’t want to pay top dollar to sleep in a smelly room. Dogs smell. It’s only when you no longer have one that you realise it. Also, lots of people are quite scared of dogs. Particularly children so it seems a little unfair in what should be a carefree environment. Edited at 04:31 PM. |

I prefer accommodation where there have been no dogs so this is good news for me. I love dogs and have my own, but I don’t want to sleep in a room where someone else’s dog may have been lying on the bed. Mine doesn’t go on any furniture, so I don’t want to be sitting on doggy seats or lying on a doggy bed, yuck.

Really pleased to hear this. I don't think Disney World is a great place for dogs tbh, so never really understood it.

I didn't see any dogs or dog mess at POR, but I'm glad all the same. That kind of holiday and dogs do not mix.

It does seem a bit of a strange place to bring your dog on holiday. Presumably if you are staying in the Disney bubble then you will most likely be visiting the parks where you are unable to take your dogs.
