Not entirely unnecessarily unfortunately. Lots of policies if there are either local restrictions or FCO advice not to travel at the time you book will not provide cancellation cover for the reason the restrictions are in place even if they are later lifted and reimposed. However BA’s fairly generous rebooking policy should cover most of those possibilities, and other aspects of insurance should be unaffected.
