We've not been to Florida yet with DD but have holidays in the med all in one room. We do have the TV on in the evenings and for the first couple of days it takes DD a bit longer to go to sleep as she is used to it being quiet and dark ish. This year in Menorca we had to re arrange the room a bit so that she couldn't actually see the TV when she should have been going to sleep!
We haven't had any holiday romancing abroad since having DD - now the caravan in Torquay worked out a bit better for that as she was in her own room! Claire

We always share a room, the most space we've had is a 1 bed DVC apartment but normally we are in a hotel room or a studio. I have never understood the issue to be honest, we are a family and we are on holiday together.
We all get into bed at the same time, we might put the tv on quietly, or read, or I tend to Dibb and then everyone falls asleep when they are ready. 90% of the time I am the last one awake as I am writing my trip report. I've never had to sit in the dark, or put a box around the tv, the kids are always tired and they fall asleep. DH normally nods off first to be honest. I do like a room with enough space to properly unpack, and we prefer the DVC studios as there is a kitchenette, and the layout means you can put some stuff out of the way in the wardrobes, and they have a 'lobby' where we hang our hats and lanyards and bumbags. So we try and be a bit organised about how we live in the room. We don't use suitcases, just soft bags and they all got put inside each other and then in the wardrobe, so we aren't tripping over them. I absolutely love being in the middle of Disney, and hate being isolated in a villa. We tried offsite condos twice, and both times we felt the extra space did not make up for the lack of atmosphere. I know others disagree, but I really didn't like it. My ideal accommodation would be a 2 bed DVC villa but we don't have enough points for that. When we stay in a 1 bed the I feel thoroughly spoiled. Full kitchen, laundry, and walking distance to two parks. Couldn't really ask for more. |

Our last holiday in September was the most recent we have shared with our son (19)
we get on fine, never ever had a problem, he has shared with us every time we have stayed in a hotel (never been in villa) We dont spend that much time together with our son at home so its nice to "get to know him again" funnily enough we all seem to be tired at the same time , strange as at home our son can be up about 4 hours later than us lol

Never a case of coping, most of our Florida holidays with the kids were villa based but we always had a couple of nights at the beach which was one room for the four of us, and every time we traveled within the UK we shared a room.
To be honest this room sharing lark taught us more about our children than we dared admit, was great fun and as has been mentioned earlier much of the children s (22 and 26 now) outstanding memories tend to be related to the times we were all in one room together. In their minds the Villa was always nice but the Hotels were fun and they just really wanted to have fun. However if you do struggle to cope lock them in the laundry room or something. |

we have stayed in hotels and villas. there is me, DH, DS1, DS2 & DD
when kids were younger we stayed in hotel for 2wks with 2 double beds, 3 kids shared a bed no problem as youngest was only 2. this time will be staying at RPR for 2 nights, DS17 & DS16 will prob share 1 bed with DD10 in with us, I agree with previous comments that it doesnt bother us, like to be all together on hols & just get back to room and sleep. reason we like a villa now is for pool, kids will be up early & just go straight into pool or after a late night, last time they were in till 1 or 2am & we could just sit & chill with a drink but worrying about where they were, wouldnt let them take DD to a hotel pool without us there. |

I would never stay in a villa, always a hotel. Have 2 kids and to be honest, never had a prob. I don't want to do anything on hol. and lets face it at Disney u r in your room to shower and sleep, exhausted from everything else. Enjoy being spoilt and not doing anything, in a villa - who loads dish washer, does breakfast, makes coffee, no thats not for me.

would depend on how many children what age of children and what budget you have,
we have always stayed in hotel rooms, with our 2 babies going back 16yrs to 4 children teenagers and babies, how do we cope, with the tv etc... it usually ends up hubby awake sorting tickets out watching tv while we are all snoring our heads off, I personally like the security of a disney hotel, I feel much safter why I dont know I just do, we now stay in a 2 bed apartments as such, 2 large bedrooms 3 bathrooms sitting room full kitchen and dining table.

we have DS and have used hotels since he was in a cot. And some times it help when he was younger in a strange place. But as other have said after a full day of fun every one is ready to sleep. but once my son is asleep you can have the TV on or anything it won't wake him up. He does snore sometimes.
but if its juist a money reason, rember many hotels do have suite rooms or a joining rooms. or take a look at a townhouse that may work out the same price. But at the end of the day as long as your comfortable around the house with the kids and don't miond them coming in the bathroom when your in the shower etc a hotel room should be fine. The only thing that gets me is the space you need for your luggage. |

As others have said - we don't cope, it's all just part of the fun! We have always just shared a room, except for last year when we got the upgrade to a 1 bed villa at OKW.
The room is just a base, we are out most of the day, or at the pool, so are just in the room to sleep really. Our two will sleep through anything (thankfully, we never did the - has to be quiet/ dark - with them), so we put the TV on quiet, they fall asleep within minutes while we watch TV or potter about... and most of the time we don't last much longer than them. We put our cases in the wardrobe, so no getting in the way, and never had any issues with fighting for the bathroom, we're used to it at home lol! As for the 'romantic' issues, well, if you can stay awake till the kids are asleep then... Personally we would rather stay onsite in 1 room than offsite in a big villa, that just doesn't appeal to us. If we want more space we just fork out the extra for a 1bed villa onsite. Gives us the best of both worlds. Di x
