My children just had fun trying to complete the sets of about six pins that were only available from trading with cast members. None of them were valuable just fun to try and collect. Most of the ones we got at the outlets would have actually been more expensive if bought onsite than the ones they traded for. It was more of a treasure hunt than a business lesson.

Ah yes. But Disney staff are doing their jobs. My view of buying your children a cheap set of pins then spending your trip upgrading them to decent ones with cast members is not a positive one. Just my personal position on this of course. Mine are adult/older teens now but pin trading taught them how to learn the ‘value’ of something and research that value in advance. For me that was a valuable business lesson.

I certainly wasn't trying to teach mine any business skills, they enjoyed talking to the cast members and getting some souvenirs from their holidays, I wasn't at all interested in the value of the pins, just that they had fun.

Completely agree with this. I thought it was meant to be a fun thing to do. My kids are quite shy so it was lovely to see them become more confident over the holiday making conversation on many topics with cast members whilst trading.

I was so proud of them, they were so polite compared to many of the other kids (and adults), and this was noted by the cast members. Great family activity.

We brought a job lot off ebay. All appeared genuine. Enjoy. xx
