14 day 3 park Explorer tickets allow use of the Hogwarts Express, as it's essentially a park-to-park ticket for IoA & US, with Volcano Bay access added on.

Personally I think unless you're a huge Harry Potter nut, the Hogwarts Express is cute but not worth paying loads extra for. I know a lot of people will disagree!

If you have a day per park you'll be fine.

Another Q - it looks like there are a number of rides you have to faff with lockers for bags, does this slow you down on ride queues or does it have no real bearing. Also, what constitutes a bag?

I sometimes would have a camera pouch with my belt threaded through, it just fits a Fuji X100 so pretty much a compact although at the bigger end of compact). Would that count as a bag (in Disney I always used to go through the no bag line ok with it.

Most rides they won't let you take anything on at all, if theres free lockers then you have to put everything in. If the lockers are paid ones that means they are optional and you can take stuff on the ride. It can be a bit of a bottleneck in some of the locker areas but it takes no more than 5 minutes. The lockers are tiny but you can have more than one.

I feel like I'm the only one who has avoided this? lol
I've literally NEVER been told to take things out of my pockets on any of the big rides. I have had my wallet/phone even my huge sunglasses case and nobody has ever told me to empty the pockets in all the years I've been going there? lol

Maybe it depends on the staff I guess- we found them really strict! Got told off for having sunglasses in a zipped pocket going into one of the coaster queues
