For me there are many US traditional foods that I don't like, we find their diet almost totally bland, unless you go to New Mexico. What they describe as spicy is often nothing like it?

Cheese - with everything but almost always tastes of nothing
Biscuits and gravy - plain scones with white sauce?
Grits -coarse porridge (without any flavour)
Corn dogs and Corn bread - just vile
Bread - always too sweet.
And how hard is it to get BUTTER and not some evil spread thing?

There are lots of things that I do like, especially when you can get amazing fresh seafood and I've never had a bad burger anywhere.

Havent read the whole tread but the root bear thing made me laugh. I don't like it personally (don't hate it either) but my dad, who has only been to the US once in 2000, loved it so much on a following visit I had to bring a whole load home in my suitcase. Now you can get it in some places over here thank goodness!
