Did anyone who used Avis preferred get a free upgrade successfully? booked via BA flydrive

As far as I'm aware you will only get a free upgrade on completion of your second rental within a calendar year, unless of course you have presidents club status

Avis preferred do not get free upgrades preferred plus do you can pick a car from the upgrade line and pay the price displayed hanging from the mirror.
This will be charged to your card on exit
