Using Uber when staying onsite?

Is it easy to use Uber when staying at a Disney resort? We are staying at POR French Resort without a car so using Disney transport for most of time but wondering if Uber can pick you up from resort if we fancy going shopping or Universal. I know when we used Uber last time a couple of years ago there were times when we had x3 or higher on quotes for fares because there wasnt loads of available drivers, as it improved? Many thanks Dibbers

wouldn't the 3x the fare be because of surge pricing (ie a busy time to be using the service?)

We used Uber from All Stars, and from Universal/Cabana Bay, with no problems at all, all the Uber cars we ordered collected us from outside the reception areas of the hotels.

We exclusively used uber on our last trip and found it no problem, but we did only use it for our transfer to universa (GF to RPR) and then back to Disney (RPR to AKL). Found it reasonable and cheap, we'll be using it again this year x

Found uber very easy to use last time.
For trips to Universal I'd also recommend booking mears shuttles - they will stop and pick up other people (it's usually a van that seats 8 or so)

the 3x fare would be because you were using it at a peak time - thats how uber pricing works, when there is an increased demand for cars the prices go up.

We used it lots last trip and it was great, never waited more than a few mins for a car

We used it from both POR and Cabana Bay last year. There were five of us so we ordered the uber xls and never had to wait very long no matter where we were. The prices were reasonable also.

I really like this thread thanks. I have never used uber before. Do you just simply download the app and book via the app? Is it that simple?

Yes. It's that simple. You also need to link your credit card to it but once that's done away you go
