How long to clear immigration?

To check recent wait times at US airports you can look here awt.cbp.gov/

Interesting.

We had a horrible experience when we arrived at MCO on May 5th (Virgin flight from Glasgow), well over an hour on the plane after we parked before we were able get off and there was then multiple queues before eventually getting through. I think it took almost 3hrs from landing until we got to car hire. Not a great experience especially given allot of people had kids with them and you can't get buggies etc back until you clear immigration.

On the plus side it did mean there was no waiting for the cases!

We were in a TC flight from GLAb that day too and we landed 3:15 and disembarked after 6:30. They offloaded 3 VA Jumbos and a BA 777 ( I think it was a 777) one at a time before us due to the reduced space in immigration

Doubt I'm the only one who swallows those stats with a huge pinch of salt. Getting thro immigration is only one part of running the aircraft to airport departure gaunlet.

Last November we were thro immigration within 10 mins, came to a screeching halt as all pax/luggage were being directed, by the customs kiosk chap, to the customs single X-ray machine, the queue was long and getting longer by the second as our flight tagged on the back of the one that had landed just afore us.

I think we average 30-60mins.

We're learning though - sit upstairs if possible, or PE downstairs, Or UC.
The sooner you're off the plane - the less people ahead of you.

We sat upstairs with TC, but it got very cold very quickly, and you had to hold on really tight or the wind would blow you off the fuselage... Sorry, bored waiting in MCO departures for TC flight to GLA

You are correct of course.

You still have to wait for your luggage though so I suppose it evens itself out.
