Using iPhone as Sat Nav?
Help please
We go in a month & I'm not sure if our hire car has it or not Sure I'd read something on here about it -but of course can't find it now None of has a data allowance for abroad so plan to switch mobile data/data roaming off, but thought there was posts about using "something" with GPS signal. Any suggestions please? Do I need to download something here? Main thing is getting from the Airport to I-Drive on arrival. Then have a couple of days to figure out how to get to Port Canaveral for cruise... etc.

We've used an app called HERE, it's fantastic (and free) - we've used it all of over the world. You just have to make sure you download the country/state you need whilst you have wifi, then it can be used offline. Just make sure you have your cable handy as it uses up the battery quickly.

I used the app Navmii GPS USA for iPhone. It's been a few years since I downloaded it, but I'm pretty sure it was free. Works GPS only so no need for data.
I did have to use WiFi for the Google Search option as it didn't aways recognise addresses for the Disney parks/resorts. It always got me where I needed to go though. I also have the UK version on my phone for using here.

I used HERE maps in 2015 and using them again this year.
The good thing is you can use the maps offline, turn of your Data and they worked fine for me. I am Android but I'm sure there must be a version for Apple. |

Sorry about that - I was having difficulty getting the post to go (due to site maintenance) so not quite sure how I managed that.
Thanks for the info tho - so it sounds like it's Navmii or HERE? Just going to have a look at the Apps reviews.

If you use google maps you can download areas in the app and then use them off line (i.e. With no data)
I've done this for other areas. You miss the traffic updates etc but it's still fine
