Good value or ripped off?

Hi, I booked my trip last month as a package with Virgin and am now worrying I am paying over the odds and should maybe re think. I have only paid the deposit so far. My dates are 3rd to 21st April, Manchester to Orlando direct 11 nights in AKL with park tickets and dining, then a Ford Expedition or similar for 7 nights with full insurance while we stay offsite (booked separately) for 2 adults and 2 children who are classed as adults in the world of planes and Disney it’s costing £8039 excluding the villa. Is this really dear?

I'm not an expert on how much car hire costs to be honest but just checked your dates online and the Disney stay + tickets + dining is coming out to approx £4900 for your dates. That leaves £3100 for the flights and car hire which is approx £770 per person.
Seems reasonable to me

When you say full insurance that includes the collision waiver yes? If so it's OK, you *may* get cheaper flights going DIY but if you cancel now you'll lose the deposit so depends if you want to risk it or not

You are there for 18 nights and staying at a deluxe resort for 11 nights, so that's probably about right. Maybe with DIY you could have shaved off £500 max. Good news is with park tickets and dining included for the Disney hotel stay spending money can minimal, unless you want to do a lot of shopping

£3200 for a room at AKL for 11 nights at Easter sounds a good price (tickets will cost almost £1700 for 4 people). I'm sure when I was looking at September 2019 AKL was more than that. Anyway, that's by-the-by.

If you assume £300 for the car hire (probably a bit high but it makes the maths easier ) then the flights work out at £700 per person. I agree, that's not too unreasonable for direct flights.

We paid nearly £800 per person when we flew with Thomas Cook at a similar time of year back in 2016. Virgin were more expensive than that.

Yeah that doesn't sound too shabby at all. Given park tickets, dining, the accommodation & the fact it's the Easter holidays. You could get cheaper if you wanted to downgrade the accommodation but that's a different thing altogether. If you're happy with the price then don't look any more but if you're willing to cut back on perks, shop around to see if it's worth your while.

Its Easter school holiday time. So prices inflate. So it won't be cheap.

Yes the insurance includes collision waiver. The deposit was £725 and I think can be transferred to another trip.

Thank you all. I was having a bit of a wobble with the whole OMG over 8k on a holiday type feelings going on. It’s so tricky to compare with flights for our return date not out yet. I think I will make peace with the cost and tell myself it’s a good deal!

Well you still have time - that's the beauty of deposits. Going DIY with your villa ought to be quite reasonable too
