Mobile Mobile Data Question

I have an unlocked phone with a giffgaff SIM. Can anyone please advise me on the best SIM to use in Florida. I'm not too fussed about making calls but I would like to use Uber and therefore need data. I see others have experienced problems with 3 network. What do you recommend without it costing an arm and a leg.

Use a PAYG sim on the network 3. Then apply a £20 credit and add the All in One add on for 9gb USA and UK allowance which must be used in 30 days. Also you will get 3000 minutes to UK numbers and 3000 texts to UK numbers, again to be used in 30 day.

The three network is fine in Orlando, not as fast as here but perfectly good for uber and whatsapp. No good for streaming YouTube though

Depending on where you are staying and going to a lot of places have free wifi over there, and if you can limit yourself to just connecting when in wifi zones then you won't need an enabled sim. (otherwise 3 always seems to be the best option)

I sue 3mobile on a contract, I had to ring them to unlock my data for USA use but found it fine over there and used it many times to request Uber's.

Would texting someone you are with count as a UK number? If I texted DH whilst we were both in Florida would this count as UK number?

This. Worked fine when we went. I used it mainly as a back up to order Ubers etc when I could not get wifi, and liked not having to worry about finding a wifi signal. I guess it depends exactly what you would use it for, but for this it was worth £20.

If you call or text someone that has a UK phone number (I.e. needs to start +44) such as your hubby then yes it is free.

If it's a call he will be charged for answering it unless he also has a 3 sim (or equivalent free to roam contract) in place

Used my 3 contract in the US many times and never had an issue. I've always connected to AT&T rather than T Mobile as I've heard others have had problems with T Mobile.
