Pin trading

My son really wants to do this. I know nothing though. Are there any good guides or YouTube videos to watch with an explanation at all? I do know you can’t trade primark or eBay bundles - don’t know how but I do!

We have done this this year. My recommendation is to go to the Outlets (Vineland Road) and go to the Disney Character Warehouse. You can get the pin starter sets for half price ($15 instead of $32). They also sell pins for 99c if you are quick (get there for store opening and head straight to the pin stand).

Now you’ve got some pins to trade, you need to look out for cast members with pins either on lanyards or on pouches on their waist. This can be in any park, resort or Disney Springs. You just go up and ask to see their pins and decide if you want to trade. If there’s nothing you want say thanks, and move on.

My kids have loved it, and it’s really brought DS out of his shell.

Tim Tracker on you tube did a couple of videos on pin trading

Thanks. I’m hoping it will bring my son out of his shell too. Will look at the TT video.

There is a good Trip Report thread ongoing here which gives a good explanation: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho...9#post13423959

Just remember to always put the backing on the pins before handing them over.
You will also notice that they sometimes have a hidden surprise pin which you don't get to see before trading and other times they will ask you a question you need to get correct if its a really special pin
They are always lovely to kids and our DS loves it.

There is a great video from TT... They went Pin Trading for the very first time and (I think) explained everything really well. I think it helped that they were learning as they went along too!

This isn't always the case, as if it is a resort pin board or something similar, you will probably be told to keep the back and trade the pin. This is because they are stored on the boards without a back and the cast members do not have backs laying around.

However if trading with a CM lanyard etc, then you will need to swap the back also.

My OH was very skeptical about pin trading before our holiday last year. And by the end of the holiday that is all he wanted to do!
He was on a mission to complete a Donald hidden mickey set!

The most important thing is to have fun!

I traded a few I got in a eBay bundle this year at Disneyland in Anaheim. You just need to make sure they're legit by checking for the mickey 'waffle' print on the back.
