Dollar Rate

For those travelling soon the Dollar closed today at 1.5963.

Worth keeping a close eye on it.

The money market rate, the Dollar has been weakening against Sterling for awhile now, so good news for those travelling to the States.

You will not get this rate on the High St but you should be able to get around $1.55/6 I would think.

Of course Sterling could also fall rapidly which is why I suggested keeping an eye on it.

Just felt it was worth mentioning for those travelling soon.

Thanks Rotonda Girl - I've just noticed that it's now gone to $1.6030 within the last 30 minutes or so (US markets may have had some recent bad info/figures).

Hope you are well RG

There was a announcement from the federal reserve regarding the quantative easing policy, everyone was expecting them to start reducing the amount of q.e, but they gave the market a bit of a shock by announcing that there would be no change, so the pound shot up by nearly 2 cents on this announcement. expect the pound to remain quite strong against the dollar in the short term as our economy is showing signs of improvement while the u.s economy is not so good.
we are not going til next july but i`ve been buying some while the exchange rate is good.
