We booked #789703 with HomeAway.co.uk.

There was lots of choice but I wanted to be close to the beach and as we are going over Xmas everything was very expensive

Just Had a look and its not available unfortunately for our dates but think Ive managed to get a small 2bedroom house that the owner has split with private pool fingers crossed.

Thanks

We did a 3 week road trip last month starting in Miami and into keys and then all the way up to Clearwater. we stayed at various places in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Key Largo, key West, Florida City, Marco Island, Naples, Fort Myers beach, Siesta Keys, Lido Key, Anna Maria Island, St Pete Beach and Clearwater then stayed at Naples again to break up the journey to MIA. Honestly can't say which place was the best as we had the most fantastic time wherever we stayed and met some great people on our travels. Many highlights inc the stay at PierHouse 60 with a top floor room overlooking the pier and watching the dolphins. The stay in St Pete's at " Plaza beach Resorts" with a free happy hour was great. Naples is very chic and elegant and always saw dolphins from the pier and they were quite close to the shore near the swimmers. We stayed at The Cove Inn here which was on the marina and walking distance to shops, restaurants and pier. Although we enjoyed every moment, the places we probably wouldn't rush back to were Miami - very busy and expensive as you would expect and Fort Myers Beach - didn't seem to be much to do around there and looked a little run down but we didn't have very long here to explore to be fair. Clearwater has a great vibe and is more lively if that is what you are looking for. Lido key on the other hand is very quiet and tranquil if you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all, although I understand there is a night club and more restaurants a short distance from the coastline. Marco Island was in between both of these both tranquil or if you go closer to South Beach more life. Key West was great fun, beaches not as nice as gulf coast but stunning sunsets, plenty to do and lively nightlife on Duval Street. If you are looking for stunning beaches and fantastic sunsets, Gulf Coast is definitely the best for that.

Wherever you decide to stop, I am sure you will have a fantastic time.

We spent 5 nights in Naples this year and loved it so much. Booked 7 nights at Marco Island ocean resort next April. Good price on virgin holidays accommodation only!
