Can anyone tell me anything about Fort Lauderdale? Recommend or not? Where to stay and where to play?

Thank you!

We stayed at the Pelican grand in Fort Lauderdale a couple of years ago. It was a lovey hotel with a private beach and a lazy river next to the pool.

We only did one night there before a cruise. Very chilled out place. We stayed at the Westin on the beach and it was gorgeous. Watch out for the resort fees at all the hotels though- I think it was something ridiculous like $35 a night. I'd factored this into the overall price of the hotel before booking, but you wouldn't want to be caught by surprise!

We didn't do much but had some lovely walks on the beach and ate alligator bites in a beachside restaurant!
