Meal Plan Help

Hi all,
We are going to DLP for the first time in 4 weeks. We have a half board standard meal plan included and staying at the Hotel Cheyenne. I have been given a meal plan guide by our tour operator but it is a bit of a minefield and I dont know where to start.

Please can anyone recommend some good restaurants for us, family of 5 (2 girls aged 4&5, 3 adults). We are open to using the standard restaurant or paying the difference for one or two of the plus/premium restaurants (assuming this is allowed).

How many nights? If 3 nights then thats 3 vouchers. Billy bobs, Agrabah and plaza gardens. Easy peasy. Id book plaza gardens quickly though.

All 3 are buffets, Agrabah is eastern cuisine so may not suit your tastes. If not, lucky nugget when shows are on.

Me and my niece enjoyed La Cantina at Santa Fe. They had make your own fajitas, and a chocolate fountain. Kids love that kinda stuff. X

Definitely go to La Grange - it's the best buffet in the resort imo. Tex Mex with fajitas, nachos, ribs, wings, chilli with a big kids section and salad bar. There's also a massive choice of puddings.

If you're wanting dinners then I'd also do the La Cantina at Santa Fe and Chuckwagon in your hotel.

If you're interested in lunch you can use your vouchers at Agrabah Cafe and Plaza Gardens these are full buffet restaurants. You can also use them at Cowboy Cookout where they have buffet starters and desserts and then a choice of main meals.

Although not officially on the meal plan, another place you can use your vouchers with minimal top-up is Lucky Nugget Saloon. It's our new favourite place to eat on site. You order at the till when you arrive and are then shown to a seat and the food is brought out to you - if you're lucky you might also be treated to a puppet show on the stage! (this tends to start at 12.30pm).

Lucky Nugget is not guaranteed. Agree it's a great option though. It's officially counter service (even though they bring you food). Pricey for counter service though, which makes it good value if you've got free dining.

Alternatively if you want a table service meal that isn't a buffet, you can use the vouchers in any Disney-owned restaurant and pay the extra.

Bear in mind the in-park restaurants close much earlier than the parks. Sometimes the last sitting can be as early as 3pm in some restaurants.

Which ones close early?

Depends. Often we haven’t been able to get Walt’s, Remy or Agrabah later than 3pm.

You can look up opening and closing times online. But if you already have a reservation you will be safe!

That’s what I was worrying about - Agrabah is one of them.
