I am in a quandry about this. I don't think trick or treating is safe at the moment - even if we weren't in tier 3.
We always do pumpkin carving and leave them in the windows by the front door. I usually take the kids trick or treating on our estate, but we only visit houses with halloween decs or pumpkins.
I have bought 2 pumpkins to carve and will be doing a halloween sweet hunt round the house for my kids.
Thing is do I put the pumpkins in the window for those walking around doing the pumpkin trail thing, or would that encourage kids to knock on?
I don't want to encourage any trick or treating, but would be happy to show off my pumpkin designs for people walking round doing a pumpkin trail.

I’d put a note on the door saying happy Halloween but please don’t knock.

I have hesitated about buying sweets and in the end not bought any. We are tier 3 and I don't think we will get any visitors. I don't want to end up with a load of sweets I'd have to eat myself 😁

I have seen the idea of tying some string up and using the mini wooden pegs to attach the bags of sweets.
DD and DH have just carved 4 pumpkins 🎃 out for dispatch on grandchildren’s doorsteps with treats

If any one knocks, I will not answer.

Idiotic for anyone to attempt this in a pandemic.

That's what we're doing, with the strings hanging from lights and various other things around our front door.

We figure if any kids make it as far as reaching our front door they might as well help themselves to something.

that's how legoland florida have been giving out their trick or treat sweets

We are decorating and the kids have carved pumpkins but we are not giving out sweets this year. The local council are encouraging people to do the halloween trail thing but not to do trick or treating
