Xmas - Do you tip the postman, bin men & milkman?
Always tip the postman £10 but never sure about the bin men as they are a bunch of guys and not sure how it works.
We used to tip the milkman prior to him retiring his round. |

We tip our postie as he is brilliant and milkman as he gets to us in all weather's. Dustman, no, we have at least 3 dustcarts on a big collection week which means apx 9 men... they throw the empty bins back breaking lids and often leave loads of waste in the rd!

We’ve never done this but we’ve never really seen any of them until Covid came along.
We don’t have the same post person each day so I probably wouldn’t but I did wonder about leaving biscuits or similar for the bin men. They have been known to come through the gate and up the path for our bin on the odd occasion we (or our direct neighbours) have forgotten which is very kind |

Bins - beer & biscuits. No milkman anymore

Postlady.. no and not this year either, because she was over the top with her ‘Covid precautions’ when delivering small parcels. She also broke my gas meter box and switched off my gas feed when shoving a parcel in the gas box as I watched her from my living room window. She looked like a Rabbit in car headlights throughout.
Bin men.. no, but yes this year as they worked on throughout and apparently without compromise. They were true, largely unsung heroes at a time of great uncertainty about transmission methods. £20 (or a slab of beer). Milkman.. Haven’t seen one since the 1980s. Do they still exist? I have never received a tip in my life as Soldier, Policeman (quite rightly) or Hospital Security Officer and struggle with the concept... other than in a Restaurant .. or in the USA as service industry wages seem low and it seems culturally expected in any case. I guess that I am simply tight.
