I don’t know if it will help, but my estate has just formed a residents association. We found out that many members wanted CCTV, so found a company and approached them stating that X number of homes wanted it, what group deal/discount could they do. He came back with some really good offers and options.
I’m not suggesting you need a residents association, but if you get on with neighbours, it might be worth seeing if several people may want it, and then contact a few companies to see what group discounts they can offer

I have three systems running at my house
5 continuous recording CCTV - an extremely good system - cost around £2000 5 or so years ago ADT - separate running system, with cameras that record if they pick up motion. This is a good alarm system, but the cameras are hit and miss. System £1600 ( large amount of motion and doors ) with fire alarms monitored too. £55 a month to monitor. RING - doorbell and cameras - my favourite as its so easy to use and good quality images. A few hundred- cannot remember exactly.

A question for those of you with CCTV - do you have to display signage that your property has CCTV and did you consult with your neighbours?
The reason I ask is we came back the other weekend after having gone out for belated anniversary dinner and found our adjoining had cameras on the front of their house. The front camera points towards our parking spaces, we are a set of 3 terrace houses. We are in the middle and our parking spots are opposite our house. These have been neighbours from hell from the outset so we don’t feel we can ask them about it. I feel we are being watched constantly and we have thought out of courtesy you would mention to your neighbours that you were having it fitted? Anyone shed any light please?

I do but only as a deterrent so people know the house is like fort knox. Our cameras only guard the area of our house. We dont point them at other property. I remember researching at the time and you’ll only get in trouble if cameras point into other peoples property or cause them harassment.
You might be grateful if the cameras are only on parking spaces if something happened to your car. Over the years my cameras have caught the odd naughty person or two

as a general rule, if you are pointing them at your own land, you're fine. if that happens to cover a bit of the street outside, that's fine too. if its just pointing straight out onto the street, or covering a large portion of a neighbour, then yes, you probably need a sign (and/or permission which may or may not include a GDPR compliance statement/contract)

I have no signs up and my cctv covers the pavement and road. My neighbours have even asked me to download clips when things have happened to their cars on the road. I have one camera pointing directly into a neighbours bedroom which I can't adjust (and it's got nothing to do with the fact that she's a 35 year old attractive woman who never closes her curtains).

That’s what we thought, although we don’t object to it, we did think as a good neighbour it may have been mentioned to us.
