The Big Apple and a Big Ship! - Day 5 -Anthem of the Seas - At Sea

August 4, 2017 - Anthem of the Seas - At Sea

I woke up at 8.45 and used the wi-fi before Harriet woke up, showered and went down to the Windjammer buffet restaurant for breakfast whilst Harriet stayed in bed. Had yogurt and granola, plus pancake, French toast with egg and sausage and sugar free maple syrup - standard cruise ship breakfast !
Took back to the cabin Harriet's usual, crispy bacon, hash browns and croissant with ketchup and chocolate milk.

Once I had finished my coffee I went down to the meet n mingle organized through Cruise Critic, but arrived 5 minutes late to find a raffle already started and I was too late for a ticket! Prizes were poor though, cheap wine and royal Caribbean freebies! Didn't meet anyone as everyone in large groups, so took a complimentary mimosa and went for a wander around the shops in the Royal Promenade.

Then went back to the cabin at about 11am and changed for the pool, sat on deck 15 above the pool, a French man and son weren't happy I took a bed that they had 'reserved', told them you couldn't reserve loungers, they had 5 and spent about half an hour on 2 of them from 11 until 3!
Sunbathed and read my magazine and kindle but it was very cloudy so not much tanning, gave up at 3 and came back to cabin. Was going to sit on balcony, but without the breeze by the pool it was hot and very humid, so I sat inside and pinched the wi-fi from Harriet as we were sharing one package.

She arrived back at about 5pm with a friend and then went off again, so I showered ready for the show 'The Gift' at 6 before dinner and formal night at 8.15. Show was good, singing and dancing excellent but not sure I followed the weird story line.

Got back to cabin just before 7pm and found Harriet, sent her for a shower and to get ready. I sat on the balcony and listened to music and read with a cocktail.

Speciality Pina Colada cocktail served in a fresh pineapple!

Went to get pre dinner drinks whilst Harriet got dressed. Sun now shining, lovely evening.

Dinner included snails, escargot and seafood linguine. Harriet just had chicken and then went back to meet her friends as they were going for a swim.

After dinner I went to Spectra's Cabaret a show performed in the 270 venue, it was a very good show with modern music and lots of special effects including the moving screens (have heads on in photo)

The bar in 270 had an interesting cocktail menu and I particularly enjoyed the 'Cotton Canditini' and not just because it was so pretty!

I then went and watched the last 2 songs from the Bon Jovi tribute band, and decided that I must watch their last show in 270 in a few days time.
Then went to the casino, wasted a few $ on the roulette table, no luck tonight! Had a Cosmo cocktail and then back to cabin at 12.30 and was in bed before Harriet's curfew at 1am!

Beer $7
Pina Colada and Lava Flow by pool $20
Root beer
Mandarin Absolut vodka $9
2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc with dinner $26
Cotton Canditini $13
Balancing Act like Kir Royale $13
Cosmo in casino $10

Steps 10895 - 4.5 miles

Your daughter seems to have made friends very quickly. That is great, my daughter always needs lots of persuasion to join in things as she is getting older (she is 12 now)

Loved all the different cocktails, when we cruised on the oasis.looks like the drinks package is definitely working for you.
Fair play, with the sun loungers, not sure I could have spoken up,but some people,do frustrate you, reserving them & then not using them,so well done you!
Loving the report

She certainly did make lots of friends from the us and the U.K. I hardly saw her for much of the cruise! But we kept in touch via the Royal app and text. Harriet always goes to the first night club meeting but then they tended to meet somewhere else, she didn’t really enjoy the organised club activities.

Drinks packag definitely worked out cost wise and the bionic bar was fun and often no queue. Good that could try drinks and not worry if I wasn’t that keen.

Always easier to find a lounger when it’s just me and usually take one on the end of a row, also happy to let original people have it back of they need it, but not just if reserving just in case!
