Mobile Food and other bits and bobs to take over..

** apologies in advance as I couldn’t find a thread on this**

Me and my mum have been discussing what to take over with us as we will be staying in apartments and want to save some money. We have agreed to take over some toastie bread, weetabix, washing machine liquid tablets, teabags..especially the Yorkshire biscuit ones!

I’m curious to find out what other people take over with them? My sister will be taking nappies, Jammie dodgers, tinned soup for my nephew 😂

Every little helps!

Thanks

Well add baby wipes to your sisters list use the 100+ carrier bags you get in the supermarket for rubbish
A couple of boxes for snacks inthe parks ( we use containers from take out meals reuse and then recycle them )
Reusable water bottles and they squash dinky concentrate bottles or buy as they call it water enhancer
And the tea /digestives biscuits for a that cuppa ( Graham’s Crackers are as near digestive as you will get )
Dollar tree for everything else like washing up like washing up liquid
Kitchen roll a cloth dish towel etc
Me I never go anywhere with out a couple of dish clothes /towels
And a couple of packets of Aldi anti bac wipes and a bottle opener tin opener and cork screw and at least 2 beach wraps the last item has been used more than I’d care to mention A’s pillow cases sheets towels etc evenin swanky hotels butbim a fussy mare at times

We take teabags as we dont like the American ones. We take this with us if we are having breakfast out and use instead of theirs.

Salt & pepper shakers, hot sauce. You can get them there, just handy to have for the 1st night for a takeaway.

Brown Sauce - you can get it over there but it is very expensive. Bottle in the car for breakfast out and one in the villa.

24 Tins of Beans - you can get them over there but they are very sweet and we all like them for breakfast in the Villa.

We declare it all on the way in and always get told by the bemused official that they do sell baked beans in America!

We take our Tetley tea bags in a tuppaware type box and use it for breakables (wrapped in tissue paper) on the way home. We also take a first aid kit, plasters, paracetamol, ibuprofen, afterbite cream for mozzie bites, immodium instants. Our prescription meds we keep with us in our hand luggage. We also take a few black sacks for the bins, a dishcloth, laundry tablets, dishwasher tablets, and anything else we need we buy over there.

I wrap a jar of marmalade and a jar of strawberry jam in bubble wrap and take these with us, I also take a small bag of sugar in a tupperware pot (we don't use much) + a tube of colmans english mustard.

The other thing not food but food related are a couple of UK teaspoons (either plastic or cheap stainless steel ones from poundland) theirs are just too big for measuring sugar when making a cuppa.

Finally I fill a small travel size squeezable toiletries bottle with fairy liquid, and take a couple of dishwasher tablets to start us off. Also a pack of J cloths and a scouring pad/sponge + a pack of anti bac wipes.

I thought I was the only one planning on taking baked beans Last time we were there the beans were awful and my 2 boys love them with their hash browns and sausages in the morning!

Will also be taking tea bags, coffee, sandwich bags, dish cloth, dish washers tabs and washing tablets. I found wash powder a bit complicated last time as most contained bleach, we won't need loads so thought I'd take them.

Also going to chuck in some breakfast bars and snacks - the supermarket costs seem really high and as we'll have loads of space in the suitcase going out we might as well make use of it! Also saves me having to spend even longer in the supermarket trying to find everyday items when I can be browsing more interesting stuff that we don't get here!

We are staying in a one bed villa for the first time next year. We will bring teabags as normal but I think the only other thing we will bring is a box of cereal each as I have heard the US cereals are quite sweet. Other than that, nothing, I would enjoy a trip to a supermarket and trying new things.

All we take is teabags and vinegar sachets (DS1 can't eat fries without it). Everything else we can buy there and you can bargain hunt round the supermarkets. It's all part of the holiday for me!

With regard to your prescription meds what do you show when going through security /Customs or do they not bother. I have to have a lot of pain killers for a back complaint and they are prescribed.
