G7 in Cornwall same week as our holiday!

Honestly, what are the chances? We can’t believe it. We have our accommodation booked from 12th June for a week just outside Falmouth but we had plans to do a little bit of touring around and maybe even try to make a trip to St Ives. I’m guessing that pretty much will be off the menu now? Although I’m a bit concerned I guess just getting away somewhere will be a bonus but we had plans to book an hotel the night before and the night after somewhere en route because we can’t do the journey in one go.

We were in Newport for my sister's wedding the week before the summit in 2014. We stayed in the hotel across the road, think it was the Holiday Inn. We were there Thursday til Sunday. The summit was the following Wednesday or Thursday I think.

I know it was a few days before but you could see they were preparing security and stuff and our hotel was busier (so the staff said) but absolutely no issues.

Hopefully you'll be fine. They'll be in their hotel and I'm guessing you'll be elsewhere.

I’m looking at this as hopefully a good thing that the government expects things to be better in June.

I would just plan your St Ives visit for the end of the week. Summit is scheduled for 11th - 13th June, and Falmouth is about 25 miles from Carbis Bay and on the South Cornish Coast, whilst Carbis Bay is on the North. So I think you will be able to visit other places whilst it is on without it affecting your holiday.
