In reality it’s just unpaid leave but it’s taken back through payroll over 5 months rather than in one month. If I purchase 5 additional days leave it costs me the equivalent of one days pay each month from August to December.

We have an online benefit system. Around November we can choose the benefits for the next year. I purchase 3 days and this cost in deducted from my salary monthly. I pay 23 pound a month for them.

Do the public holidays differ across NHS Scotland? I’m NHS Tayside and I’m sure we get 10 public holidays. Greater Glasgow get 10 PH’s too. On top of PH we get 29 days, then an additional 2 days after 5 yrs and an additional 2 more after 10 yrs. It’s a lot of holidays IMO, way more than DH gets (and his employees).
I didn’t realise any NHS Scotland still got 10 Public Holidays. I know Ayrshire and NHS NSS only get 8. So do you get 2 in May and 2 in September then?

NHST only get 8 PH’s. Changed to this when AFC came in. We lost one day at Easter and I think the September PH.

27 days AL on appointment
29 after 5 years
33 after 10 years

I am, however, losing a bank holiday due to the early May date change as I no longer get a long weekend due to working Saturdays!

I get 32 days after over 20 years as a council employee, plus we get the 8 bank holidays. We also have an enforced shut down between Christmas and New year and 4 unpaid days.
