Just had a fire :(
Luckily nothing major and I was able to put it out but I'm properly shaking and tearful now.
Basically I was sat watching a Disney vlog when my sister started screaming in terror from the kitchen. I go in and our top oven/grill was full of flames (that will be the fake away burgers). I went into automatic pilot, hob and oven turned off, door shut, windows and back door wide open. Flames went out after about a minute, and after about five I got the offending food out and reshut the door, not to be opened again until tomorrow when we give it a deep clean. My sister is in a massive state, my kitchen is freezing but safe I hope and I need a gin! |

How horrible for you and excellent that you were able to respond quickly and get it out.
I had Similar once and was like your sister. Screaming. But I was frozen too. Good job my flat mate managed to out it out. It's amazing how fast it can take hold. But main thing. It's out. And the kettle wasn't affected. Have a cuppa. Solves many ills - and is a good excuse for a sit down. |

So glad you’re ok! That must have been terrifying but lucky that you’re all ok and no damage.
Sounds like you need a drink |

There must have already been oil in the pan for it to do that!
Def needs a deep clean. Glad all ok though. Luckily my oven beeps to tell me to put it on a clean as it's not high on my cleaning list!

There wasn't any oil just clean tin foil. I agree with it needing cleaning. We have a brand new oven waiting to be installed (delayed because previous owners build cupboards around the electricity and gas outlets) so probably haven't been putting the same effort into cleaning the old one.

Wow, I'm surprised you got such a fire then!
Oh well, glad all ok! I had a brand new oven and still only clean it when 'it needs it'!

Sorry to hear this how frightening 😬
When I do my burgers on the grill it does start spitting up grease & can cause bit of flame, so I then add a bit of water on the bottom usually fixes it Have a stiff drink 😀 Take care xxx Edited at 08:44 PM. |

How scary - to give you something to cheer you up, one time we were in Orlando for Christmas, I was cooking burgers or similar for Christmas Day breakfast and it got a bit Smokey and set the smoke alarm off. I didn’t know how to turn it off and prior to figuring it out I managed to press the fire button on the alarm control panel. Eventually switched it off but had to give the code word to the alarm company. A few mins later the fire brigade turned up - I apologised profusely for calling them out accidentally and they were lovely. They insisted on coming in to check everything was ok before going on their way. We finished eating but I was so stressed. We decided to check if the water was warm enough to have a chill out in the pool - while leaning over to dip my hand in, DH shoved me in the pool fully clothed! Thankfully he had already checked I didn’t have my watch on! We laughed SO much! It was a crazy thing to do but it worked to break the tension!

Easily done, and so frightening, glad you are ok although a bit shaken, there was a house fire not far from taffy a few weeks ago, the homeowner had put an insense stick into a bin in the bedroom next thing the house was on fire, luckily no one was hurt.
