We upgraded to a preferred pass last week and it cost us £55 dollars to do this. The value of the UK 3 park ticket is currently $329.99 and your upgrade price is the difference between that and the cost of the annual pass you want to upgrade to. It was the 2 park preferred pass that we upgraded to rather than the 3 park pass as we didn't want to do Volcano Bay as done it before.

It says free parking after first visit. How do they know your first visit and is the day you upgrade at the park counted as that day?
Otherwise it would end up being 2 days of parking to pay. |

Well done on getting the 3 park downgraded to a 2. I think you got lucky as we weren't able to and were told the new policy is you can't (even though we hadn't been to VB at all).
In terms of your first day - this will be the first day you use the ticket itself not the day you upgrade (although that may be the same day). When you upgrade they class your first day as what ever day you first used the original ticket. This means if you upgrade on day 1 of using your ticket you would get free parking on day 2. We were quoted $150 for the pass with free parking upgrading a 3 park ticket to a 3 park preferred or $100 if we did the 50% off parking or $50 if we did the seasonal without parking. We went seasonal as probably only doing 2 more days outside of this last trip (stayed at a Universal hotel so had free parking anyway). If you are planning on doing more than 8 days total over the year then the one with parking would be a good shout.

So the $150 didn't include tax so its prob more like $170ish.
Parking I think is $22 at Universal

The day you upgrade is your first day. They don't seem to ever scan your pass (or if they do I've never seen them do it), you just show it with ID normally.
Parking is $22 per day there. I just renewed last night, 15 months for the price of 12 2prk preferred $298. |

The Universal AP gives you more discount than Disney ones imho. Yes you do get discount $1 I believe on refills only, not on the original refillable cup
