Badgers - Please don't read if squeamish

This year more than any other I keep seeing dead badgers at the side of the road. Searching the internet brings up only the same options I can come up with.

1. Badgers get run over in the night. Ok but why are they always at the side and not in the middle. They never look "run over"
2. Farmers are killing them on their land and dumping them at the side of the road to look like it was option 1.
3. The badgers have been used by people for dog fighting. However they don't appear to be badly injured.

They disappear after a day or so as our council employ people to pick up dead animals at the side of the road.

I know its not a nice subject but it just feels a dreadful waste.

I’ve noticed a lot recently and they are removed fairly quickly, sometimes within an hour or two although I’ve been told that some people take them to eat 🤮🤮🤮🤮

I believe it’s older people who eat badgers.

Not all of us oldies. Perhaps you are speaking for yourself just don’t like to admit it as it would never have crossed my mind as I am not interested in possibly eating a TB infected badger.

Trouble is how do you know if you have picked up an infected or non infected unless you start testing for it once you get it home. Then, of course, if it is infected how do you get rid of it - or do you just put it back by the roadside with a note on it saying TB test positive
