Do we take Amazon’s service for granted

Casting all the tax issues etc aside, do we take Amazon for granted.
DW uses it more than me so I just collect the parcels at the door and am now on first name terms with the delivery driver. But I ordered a new DSLR this week and have been tracking the parcel as I don’t order that often.
It left the supplier in Italy an hour after I ordered on Weds and arrived at Amazon warehouse in Piacenza. Left there just after midnight and arrived in Rochester, Kent 12 hours later. Overnight it arrived at the Enfield depot. At 7:00 this morning it went out for delivery.
That’s quite a journey, all for FREE! Recently Wickes wanted £50 to deliver one fence panel to my mum and dads, a journey of just over 3 miles! There’s no wonder internet companies are thriving

My name is Tom - I am an Amazon addict.

I think you are right we do take their outstanding ordering and delivery service for granted.
How on earth can I buy something at 10.00am and it gets delivered by 6.00pm? Awesome.

This has been a heavy year for me with so many jobs going on and so much stuff needed. I would say over 95% of my online gear comes from them with the rest being click and collect from Screwfix.

Not once has Amazon let me down and what company allows you to cancel an order whilst it's on the van for delivery or even decline it at the front door. Cannot fault them.

I once ordered a cd at 6pm on a Sunday and it was delivered at 10am Monday. I use Amazon a lot.

I order Amazon when I wake op and it’s delivered often same day - very good for amazon fresh (and I ordered holy basil tea earlier this morning which will be delivered by 9pm tonight in the for my early cuppa tomorrow when I wake up)

PS My Alexa just flashed and said order is on its way - quicker than it would take me to fins a health food shop open and without a mask. Result for me 👍

Edited at 10:56 AM. Reason: Updated with delivery

Use it to deliver birthday presents, usually Lego to my grandchildren. I have a feeling it may be an Amazon Christmas!

I’m ashamed to say I use them regularly. A very unethical company but they’re just so convenient & reliable.

Serious question - why do you say they are “a very unethical company “?

I understand they are a pretty decent employer for what I have read and I know Jeff Bozos has a great reputation as a democratic boss and gives much away for philanthropy reasons so unsure if the negativity

It's definitely the main reason we are losing so many shops on the high street but it's just so much easier and convenient! I always use them.

Apart from being convenient and being delivered to my door free often same day - the main reason I no longer use high street is having to wear a mask or stand in a line (even a virtual one). Once covid is over and this mask wearing ditched I would like to think I will shop local again for what I can

Exactly. My first port of call for the camera was John Lewis (mainly because mum gets a discount). Not in stock in store or on line, couldn’t tell me when they’d be back in stock. Curry’s, Argos etc all between £40-£60 dearer. Would’ve liked to have gone to a specialist camera shop, but we have none local.
