Avis through BA

Hi

We are looking to book a BA fly drive including a car from Avis (plus a hotel for part of our trip). We need an Avis car as we want to collect it from Royal Pacific, use it to drive to Vero Beach and then drop it off in Fort Lauderdale. Avis seem to be the provider BA use that allow us to collect the car from onsite at Universal. I appreciate there will be a smaller selection of cars there but we’re not fussy.

We have not rented a car in Florida before so I have a few newbie rental questions if anyone can help, please?

1) Is the insurance that comes with booking a car via BA (getting an Avis car) fully inclusive or do I need to pay for any upgrades?

2) It says you need to present the main driver’s credit card on arrival. I would imagine my OH will be doing most of the driving (although we can both drive) but he doesn’t have a credit card. I have noticed you can add another driver for free - should I instead put myself as the main driver (as I have a credit card) and him as the second driver, or would they still need a credit card for him that way? It would be much easier if they would just accept a credit card from either of us regardless who drives

Thanks!

We have done a number of flydrives with BA. Yes the insurance is all you need, everything is included, no top ups required. As for the drivers and the card, I always book our holidays, so it’s in my name. I give my card at collection and dh does most of the driving. You don’t even need to give your dh details, he will be ok to drive. I don’t actually know how this works, but I think they just automatically include your spouse.

Thank you, that’s perfect!
