Colonoscopy on Friday

Hi dibb family,

Just looking for any advice or tips for this coming Friday... I'm being sent for a colonoscopy 😳 and I'm sitting here reading the (extremely long) guidelines before my appointment on Friday... Just feel like I can't eat anything... Its overwhelming.

I'm sure I'm just being a drama queen cos I'm sitting here myself overthinking things as per usual but for some reason this colonoscopy has me really rattled.

My appointment is Friday at 1pm so if I'm reading the notes right then I cant eat anything from Thursday at 1pm 😳 I know my diet isn't great at the moment due to my gallstones but now I'm stressing that stressing about not eating anything for 24 hours will be worse😳

Any tips, experience with colonoscopies or advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏

I’ve had one, if you met me you’d know I’m scared of everything. The prep is the worse part and I was in the toilet 50 times, the actual procedure wasnt bad I had sedation and watched it on the screen it’s unconfy but not painful. Good luck afterwards rest and get waited on! ❤️

As I always say the camera doesn’t hurt at all but the tripod does😂

Honestly I’ve had loads😬 with and without sedition and I tend not to bother with the sedation now, it’s uncomfortable but that’s only the air they pump in that expands the pipes.

I don’t know if you have to take it but if you do the clean prep etc you have to drink is the worst bit, you’ll be fine.

Thank you so much for your experience and advice, I'm not usually that bad when it comes to various procedures I've previously been through but my MIL has really put the fear of God into me 😳😳

I'm just trying to stay positive and look forward to Saturday 🙏👍😎 xx

Now that made me lol 😂... Tripod!

I'm weighing up the sedation thing... Not sure which way to go 🤔

I've got the drinks... I need to start the 1st batch tonight at 7pm then the 2nd lot in Friday at 6am... and I've to stop eating completely at 1pm tomorrow 😳🤯

Hi best of luck I had this done the wost part is clearing the bowl as the stuff is tenable. You can asked for gas I did not yes it a little uncomfortable but fine. The 2 lady’s that did mine where talking to each other and me about football 😆 as one of the lady’s sons where have a tryout for a team 😆 there was a Indian gentleman who was giving gas ect asked if I needed any I said no and we where talking about his home city and other things just to take my mind off what they where doing. After when I got the report said copped well did not need gas.

It took 4 weeks to get my Dad’s results back. Hope it goes well

I'm pro now haha I have 2 a year for the last 10 years.

Follow the instructions, as if done wrong you will have to redo.

Drink the prep ice cold as its easier.

Drink plenty of water, as you can get a little dehydrated.

Be near a toilet! You will pass alot of water through your bowel.

Take the sedation if offered, it will be easier honestly.

And relax! They will look after you 🙂
