We bought all our Christmas meat at the meat farm yesterday. We always buy it in October and freeze it as the prices go up in November. I have bought most of the main presents as my husband is a buyer (tools) and warned of the shortages a few months ago. But to be honest, as long as we get to spend Christmas with family this year (unlike last year) we won't care what we eat.

I’ve been able to get most things through my online Tesco shop, had to pop to the store for a couple of bits but it’s not been too bad.

The media, whilst generally reporting accurately, do so in such a way as to hype people up into behaving differently. It doesn’t help the situation at all.

I’m on the London/Essex border, today’s DM headlines say that the petrol situation here is still bad. It hasn’t been too bad the last few days from what I’ve seen. Our 4 closest petrol garages all have fuel and little to no queues. But given today’s headlines I’ll sure people will be out again buying fuel they don’t need.

and this is one of the biggest problems the way the press fan the flames to create an inferno

yesterday the BBC posted an image where there was a long queue of vehicles outside a petrol station. if you looked at the picture the traffic was queuing past the garage entrance to a junction and the photo was cropped to try and hide the fact that the photo wasn't really what it was being used to portray

as many have said whatever the situation we will celebrate in some form or another and it really wont affect us and i wont be queueing outside to get into any shops

as far as empty shelves at the supermarket our local supermarket has been rubbish and the shelves have been empty but the local Spar and the Nisa at the petrol station have been fine and have most if not all things

we have a weekly online food shop and last few weeks we have had no substitutions so that store must be well enough stocked
