Gin cabinets

Just why? What is the craze with them?

I keep seeing them on a Frenchic FB page. I think I’d quite like one in the right room maybe? Would depend on the decor

They're generally really ugly unless you pay a lot for them and ours is hidden from sight as it's supposed to be anyway. Why would people even want one anyway unless they shoot? Or is it another odd american thing that we're importing again?

OK, so I *may* have mis-read the post title as 'gun' cabinet ...

I remember my parents having a drinks cabinet back in the 70’s, somewhere to keep the Bristol Cream, Gordon’s Gin and Bells Whiskey. I remember the excitement at Christmas when the advocate and the Babycham was added. Funnily enough I don’t remember much being drunk from it at any other time of the year.

I guess Gin Cabinets are somewhere to house Gin Collections, I would have one if I had the space and found one I liked.

I've got a LOT of gin but have never heard of a gin cabinet.

Having just googled them, they do just seem to be drinks cabinets, unless I'm looking for the wrong thing.

Does anyone have some images or examples they can share?

Megaflyer, it was Hilda Ogden that had a ‘Muriel’ and flying ducks! I’m with you though no gin cabinet here, in fact no gin here, I’m probably the only person I know who doesn’t get the current fascination with gin 😂😂😂

If it’s a craze,it’s one I have t heard off.
No one I know has ever mentioned one,so maybe the craze hasn’t hit here yet.
Mind you it maybe classes as non essential,so courgette one even if we wanted one lol!
I do remember my grandmas drinks cabinet though with glass doors and yes,it definitely had the advocaat in at Xmas.

Here is a makeshift one I did for my daughters birthday, I just chucked all the rubbish out of the cupboard and filled it will booze. Like Bozza I have a big gin collection so I just add a few bottles with choices depending on the company 😂 I might get a proper built-in one whe I get my kitchen done
