Car hire Oct 21 Help
We need to amend our car hire as our flights have changed. We are booked with Alamo (brits). To amend the booking is going to cost almost double what we paid. We have been looking at virgin car hire prices and they seem a bit more reasonable. As we normally only book direct with Alamo we are unsure what to do. I read a thread on the dibb a while ago about virgin atlantic direct link to car hire but can’t find the thread. Does virgin car hire include everything plus an additional driver? When I try to do a dummy booking it originally says an additional driver but when I press continue it asks if you want to upgrade to gold insurance which includes an additional driver. It’s so confusing. Our dates are 1/10/21 until 16/10/21 flying to MCO.

OK. Firstly have your dates changed or just the times?
If it's the times and you are happy with your booking leave well alone as the times doesn't start until you exit the barrier. If it's the day then yes you need to change. This is the link for a VA stand alone car hire booking. Fully insured and 1 extra driver. This is on the website Unlimited Mileage Collision Damage Waiver CDW $1 million Liability Cover EP Third Party Liability (state min) Zero excess in event of damage/accident Airport User Fee Pre payable State/Local Taxes Pre payable State/Local Surcharges One additional driver 24/7 Breakdown/Accident Assistance (free Alamo call out in the event of car breakdown) travelplus.virginatlantic/ Edit. Prices for your dates are in this range Full size car £550 Int SUV £510 Standard SUV £550 7 Seater £710

Thanks for that, I was hoping you would reply! Unfortunately our dates and airport have changed so it looks like I need to cancel completely and rebook through virgin Atlantic. Is it easy to amend and cancel the booking with them? Also being with Alamo do we get to skip the counter? We’ve only ever booked with Alamo so have nothing to compare it to and usually find the process so easy! |

Sadly with Virgin you can’t amend the booking online. However they offer free cancellations as most do. I used to ring up and cancel the existing booking if the price dropped and immediately re book. Some have managed to cancel via live chat with VH
Strangely you can book through VA but VH manage the booking. All 3rd party suppliers get you the skip the counter process at Orlando Airport, and other places. In essence the garage staff haven’t got a clue or even care who you booked with and what discounts you have. All they look for is their Ref No on your contract.
