Genie+ prediction
This has no factual basis at all, but i would not be surprised if Genie+ is either offered free to on-site guests or free to UK travellers as part of a package deal with on-site stays in the future - perhaps as part of an offer rather than always offered free.
We all know that UK guests stay much longer than US nationals. The incentives are virtually non existent for staying on site and the new Genie app system is so incredibly unattractive to us. We don't know if or when free dining will be back, however the current offer of dining credit is nowhere near as good. I do wonder if disney is staging the genie+ system and then going to offer it free so we think we are getting an amazing deal - when really the fastpass system always used to be free. It's psychology - it would feel like great value. It's also a common marketing strategy. What do you guys think?

Yes, this was mentioned in one of the other long threads. It will be something that Disney can offer at ‘no cost’ essentially, unlike DDP.
I look forward to seeing how things pan out. |

There is absolutely no chance in my view of Disney offering the $15 Genie free. The whole point, as Chapek put it, is to increase $ ‘yield’ from guests.
I do however think loads of Americans will pay for it, such a large proportion that lightning lane isn’t that lightning. It’s also almost a given the $15 will go to $20 pretty quickly, then probably go on up from there. Josh D’Amato basically said it’s introductory pricing on the D23 video.

Maybe, but they have said for about a decade they wanted to wean people off discounts. What better way than to give away something that really has no material value rather than food with DDP.
If you have uk guests who on the whole say they’ll never pay $15/pppd then your increased yield is by ringfencing them to your parks with free genie + and having them actually pay for the overpriced food |

Not just Americans. We’ve already factored it in to next years spending money. We have no idea yet what impact this will have so I’d rather know we can afford it before we go than get there and realise we need it.

I think there is the potential, or possibly removing memory maker and replacing it with genie+ which will be similar. Genie+ effectively costs them nothing, whereas free dining obvious costs them money, it would make more sense to offer genie+ than free dining.
